Rochester rallied for four in the 8th and two in the 9th to turn a 4-2 deficit into an 8-4 win vs. Syracuse. Joe Ross got the no-decision, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out three over four and 2/3rds. P.J. Walters stranded two to end the 5th and held the RedWings scoreless in the 6th and 7th before the wheels came off in the 8th. Tony Gwynn Jr. and Jason Martinson both reached base three times as the Chiefs notched 13 hits and 4 walks but left on 11 baserunners.

Harrisburg built a 5-0 lead and survived a bullpen meltdown in the 8th to take this one, 5-3 over Erie. Richard Bleier got the win, his seventh for the Sens, with seven scoreless innings, giving up two hits, no walks, and setting down one (1) on strikes. Nick Lee retired just one of five batters faced before giving way to Abel De Los Santos who let in two of three inherited runners on a sac fly and a double before ending the 8th. He pitched a scoreless 9th for the save, his fifth. Brian Goodwin tripled and hit a two-run HR in the 6th to lead the Senators offense.

Winston-Salem got three in the 8th to extend their lead from 4-3 to 8-4 and, um, dash any hopes of a 9th-inning comeback by Potomac. Ian Dickson pitched into the 5th but was charged with three runs on six hits, including a home run. He walked one and struck out two. The loss went to Justin Thomas as he gave up the final four runs on four hits and two walks over three and a 1/3rd innings. Adderling Ruiz singled and homered in his High-A debut as the P-Nats collected seven hits and drew three walks on the night.

The Shorebirds showed Jose Morales the door with a four-run 3rd as they tripled up the Suns, 6-2. Morales was charged with five runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out none and gave up a three-run HR. Hagerstown’s bullpen combined for five innings of one-run ball but the offense was held to just six hits and failed to capitalize on five walks issued as they left on nine men.

Staten Island got single runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 7th and outpitched Auburn for a 3-1 win. Erick Fedde walked none, struck out six, and went five innings, but gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits to take the loss. Taylor Guilbeau let in the other Yankee run on four hits and a walk over three and 2/3rds. The Doubledays were held to just four hits — all singles — and one walk. David Kerian was the sole batter to reach base twice, as he went 2-for-3.
GCL Update
The G-Nats won just two games again this past week, which puts them at 7-11 after three weeks of play. They trail the first-place G-Marlins by only 3½ games, thanks to the mediocrity parity of the four-team GCL East. As noted in yesterday’s GBI, Darryl Florentino has come on of late, now hitting .394 in 12 games. Wilber Pena has the lowest ERA (0.75) among the pitchers that have started two or more games.
DSL Update
The D-Nats won five of six to pull into a third-place tie, but are still 10 games behind the division-leading D-Rangers. 17-y.o. Juan Evangelista has become the hot hand, hitting .366 over his last 10 games. The starting pitching remains a strength, with the top five pitchers (in terms of GS) combining for a 3.34 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP.
