After falling behind 4-3 after three innings, Syracuse put the pedal to the metal and scored the last nine runs for a 12-4 victory over Pawtucket. Bruce Billings got the Jack Morris win with a pedestrian four runs let in on eight hits, including two home runs. He walked none and struck out seven. Jason Martinson homered twice and drove in four while Chris Nelson singled twice and doubled once to drive in five to lead the Chiefs attack.

Harrisburg rallied for three in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead and for five in the 8th to take a 10-7 lead en route to an 11-9 victory over Altoona. Matthew Spann started but was ineffective, giving up seven runs on six hits and three walks over five and 2/3rds innings. Nick Lee got the “W” in his AA debut, though he allowed one of two inherited runners to score in the 6th before pitching a scoreless 7th. Wilmer Difo and Pedro Severino were both 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored as the Sens bent the Curve’s pitchers for 16 hits total.

The Suns put on 10 runners, left on nine, and scored none as the Blue Claws shut them out, 6-0. Mario Sanchez was pinched for all six runs on nine hits and two walks over four and a 1/3rd innings to suffer his third loss. Kevin Perez and Jake Walsh combined for three and 2/3rds scoreless innings of relief, but the offense was limited to six hits with Raudy Read (2-for-4) and “Orange” Marmolejos-Diaz the only two batters to reach base more than once.

Auburn scored four times in four innings to, um, double up State College, 4-2. Erick Fedde earned his first professional win with five innings of one-run ball, striking out six, walking none, and allowing three hits. Ryan Brinley pitched two scoreless, Tommy Peterson one, to earn hold while Luis Torres was awarded the save while giving up the final Spikes run. Luis Guzman led the Doubleday hit column with three hits and drove in two, while Matthew Page also reached base three times with two singles and a walk while plating one.
GCL Update
The G-Nats won just two games this past week, which dropped them below .500 at 5-7 after two weeks of play. Victor Robles remains the flavor of the week, having stolen five bases, smacked seven extra-base hits out of 17, and scored 12 times in 12 games. Twenty-four pitchers have appeared thus with just one pitcher having pitched more than nine innings.
DSL Update
The D-Nats also were 2-4 for the week, dropping them to 12-19, which is 13 games off the pace set by the 25-6 DSL Rangers. With the July 2 start of the 2015-2016 IFA signing period, the Nats made a big splash with two notable signings: No. 13-ranked Juan Soto and SS Luis Angel Aquino.
