A four-run 3rd proved to be enough for the Chiefs to take Game Two of the three-game series, 4-1. P.J. Walters allowed the sole PawSox run on four hits and two walks while striking out three to win his fourth game. Evan Meek led a trio of relievers who combined for four scoreless innings and six strikeouts. Kevin Keyes hit his third AAA home run and drove in two to lead the Syracuse offense.

The Curve scored three times in the first four innings while three Altoona pitchers kept the Senators off the board for a 3-0 shutout. Richard Bleier was charged with all three runs on ten hits and no walks and just one strikeout over six innings as he lost his third AA game. Matt Skole’s double in the 6th was the sole extra-base hit of the eight that Harrisburg collected on the night.

Potomac wasted no time in finishing off the Blue Rocks in the continuation, as Estarlin Martinez led off the 14th with single, took second on an Adrian Sanchez sacrifice, third on a groundout to the pitcher, and scored on Alec Keller’s fourth hit of the contest. Justin Amlung got the win for pitching the top of the 14th as he allowed one hit and struck out two.

Nick Pivetta was perfect for 19 batters until Jack Lopez beat out a high-hop grounder that got past Grant DeBruin but not far enough for Lopez to take second base. It was ruled a hit. After Lopez was thrown out trying to steal, Pivetta lost the shutout on a long solo HR to LF. He would finish with seven innings pitched and one run allowed on two hits, no walks, and nine whiffs. The offense would give him three runs to work with, led by Adrian Sanchez (2-for-4), while Tyler Mapes closed out the game with two scoreless for his first save.

The Suns burst out of the gate for three in the 1st and added four more in the 4th as they held off a late Lakewood charge for a 7-5 win. Austen Williams turned in a quality start of three runs allowed on five hits and a walk while fanning four as he won for the eighth time. Jake Walsh worked around a one-out single in the 9th to earn his fourth save. Osvaldo Abreu doubled twice to take the lead in the Sally League at 24 two-baggers and was 2-for-5 with two RBI to lead the Suns attack.

State College put up crooked number in three innings while Auburn managed just one run in a 7-1 loss. Joan Baez remains winless in six starts at two levels as he was taken for five runs on six hits and three walks over two and 2/3rds innings for his second loss at the SS-A level. 2nd Rd. pick Andrew Stevenson went 3-for-4 with a run and a stolen base while 13th Rd. pick Max Schrock doubled and walked. The rest of the Doubledays were just 1-for-23 with no walks.
