Syracuse 8 Toledo 3
• Jordan (W, 2-3) 7IP, 5H, 1R, 0ER, 0BB, 5K
• Meek 1⅓ IP, 0H, 0R, BB, K, 2-0 IR-S
• Lisson 2-3, R, 3RBI
• Hague 2-4, 2R, HR, 3RBI
• Keyes 2-4, 2-2B, RBI
Ricky Hague smacked a three-run HR to highlight a five-run 1st as the Chiefs won, 8-3 and secured back-to-back victories for the first since May 14-15. Taylor Jordan recovered from the astonishment of having a five-run lead to work with and went seven strong innings, with just an unearned run allowed on five hits, no walks, and five K’s. Hague and Kevin Keyes, both making their AAA debut, both went 2-for-4 as the Chiefs pounded out 10 hits total.
Roster moves: UT Ricky Hague, 1B-OF Kevin Keyes reassigned from Harrisburg.
Harrisburg — OFF DAY
While Trea Turner hasn’t been officially added to the Harrisburg roster yet, he’s in town and expected to debut tonight.
Roster moves: IF Cutter Dykstra, UT Jose Lozada reassigned from Syracuse; 2B Christopher Bostick promoted from Potomac.
Potomac 6 Lynchburg 4
• Lopez (W, 4-3) 5⅓ IP, 6H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 8K, HR
• M. Rodriguez (SV, 2) 1⅓ IP, 1H, 0R, BB, 2K, 3-1 IR-S
• Martinez 2-4, R
• Mesa 2-4
• S. Perez 2-5, R, RBI, SB, CS
Potomac stopped a two-game slide with a 6-4 win over Lynchburg. Reynaldo Lopez pitched into the 6th while winning his fourth game, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out a season-high of eight. Manny Rodriguez allowed one of three inherited runners to score in the 8th but pitched a scoreless 9th to earn his second save. Estarlin Martinez, Narciso Mesa, and Stephen Perez each singled twice while Brandon Miller homered to pace the P-Nats offense.
Roster move: IF Adrian Sanchez reassigned from Harrisburg.
Lakewood 5 vs. Hagerstown — GAME ONE
• Purke 5IP, 4H, R, ER, BB, 3K
• Napoli (L, 2-3) 2IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 2K
• Keller 2-3, RBI
• DeBruin 2-3
Lakewood put up crooked numbers in both the 6th and 7th innings to turn a 1-1 tie into a 5-1 win in the opener. Matt Purke started and went five innings, allowing just one run on four hits and a walk while striking out three. David Napoli took the loss and the brunt of the Blue Claws offense, giving up four runs on five hits and two walks over two innings. Alec Keller and Grant DeBruin both went 2-for-3 to account for four of the eight Suns hits.
Lakewood vs. Hagerstown — GAME TWO
• M. Sanchez (W, 3-2) 5IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 3K, HR
• Amlung (SV, 3) 2IP, 1H, R, ER, 0BB, 2K, HBP
• DeBruin 2-3, R, RBI
• Dent 1-3, 2RBI
There was another 1-1 tie in Game Two, but the Suns got the better of the Blue Claws with a two in the 4th and one in the 5th, then held on for 4-3 win to split the doubleheader. Mario Sanchez got the win in a five-inning spot start, allowing both Lakewood runs on five hits, no walks, and three strikeouts. Grant DeBruin once again went 2-for-3 while Cody Dent delivered the two-run single that put Hagerstown up for good upon his rental return from Harrisburg.
Roster moves: RHPs Jefry Rodriguez, Robbie Dickey transferred to Auburn; RHPs Luis Reyes reassigned from Auburn; 3B Cody Dent reassigned from Harrisburg; LHP Jake Walsh activated from the 7-Day DL.
I’ll be very interested to see the lineup card from Harrisburg tonight. Turner, Difo, Bostick, and Cutter – where will everyone play? Perhaps one or two will get a look in the OF?
It’s great to see another good start from Purke, and Lopez seems to be figuring out a few things.
I was wondering the exact same thing. The timing of Bostick’s promotion seems odd. Are they going to move him to 3rd? Are they going to move Difo to 3rd? Lots of questions around that. While he is not the same caliber of prospect as Difo and Turner he still is only 22 and was starting to hit pretty well at Potomac.
No Difo in tonight’s lineup. Bostick is playing left with Cutter at 2nd. Turner’s at short!
Am curious also. Not too worried about Cutter as I don’t think he will make it to the Bigs but a little surprised that they promoted Bostick. I am assuming that Turner and Diffo will play SS/2nd so not sure about Bostick playing time. Would be better to have him play every day at POT than UT in HAR. Unless one of them ends up playing 3rd… We should find out soon enough.
They’ve had Skole at 3B for more games (33) than at 1B (22) this year. He’s been showing some spark, so I assume he’ll still be playing somewhere as well.
Skole could be headed for Syracuse. He’s old enough and the Chiefs desperately need his power in the lineup.
Cat Ballou, but who replaces him off hagerstown ??
Karl: post all star games promotions ?
Wooten to Sens and Grant DeBruin to Potnats ??
Gather your prized kids @ AA.
Syracuse is just rehab. 4Aers and etc. normally
In most orgs .
That’s pretty much my thinking. Other than Cole, Jordan, and Grace, there aren’t really many guys at Syracuse right now for whom the big club has long-term plans. (And the perpetually rehabbing Erik Davis.)
The answer msy lie in having more pop in UTL
As Sanchez was that to start Sens season.
A session is long with many ironic surprises.
Karl , the question is nobody can truly be considered
For a call- Up from PotomAc unless one considers
John Wooten or brandon Miller goes on. HR burst
From 6 to 12???
I wonder if Nats are waiting on Raffie Bautista
To get healthy before cat Ballou moves to AA??
