Indianapolis jumped on Scott McGregor for six runs in the 1st en route to a 9-1 victory over Syracuse. The 28-y.o. journeyman retired just two of nine batters faced, giving up five hits and two walks to the other seven. P.J. Walters followed six innings of three-run relief, which only served to save the bullpen as the offense was stifled (six hits, two walks). Tony Gwynn Jr. (2-for-4) and Chris Nelson (1-for-3, BB) were the only two Chiefs to reach base twice.
Roster moves: SS Emmanuel Burriss recalled to Washington; SS Trea Turner promoted from Harrisburg.

The bullpen gave up four in the 8th, but surprise, surprise — it was Binghamton’s as Harrisburg won its third straight, 7-3. Jose Lozada’s two-run double, his third hit of the night, highlighted the Sens late-inning rally which was set up with a Drew Vettleson walk and bunt singles by Pedro Severino (2-for-5) and Christopher Bostick (2-for-4). The win went to Abel De Los Santos, who turned in a scoreless 7th after starter Austin Voth’s seventh quality start of three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings.

The P-Nats rallied for four in the 9th and got the tying runs on before they finally fell, 6-4 in the completion of Thursday night’s suspended game. Tyler Mapes took over for Lucas Giolito, who spun two scoreless the night before, but was lit up for four runs on seven hits over four innings to take the loss. Adrian Sanchez led the Potomac offense with a 3-for-4 night, followed by Narciso Mesa at 2-for-5

Wilmington 5 Potomac 1 — GAME TWO

Wilmington scored three in the 3rd to erase an early 1-0 deficit and scored single runs in the 4th and 5th to take the regularly scheduled game, 5-1. Starter and loser Reynaldo Lopez went the distance with a pedestrian five runs on nine hits and a walk with one (1) strikeout. Adrian Sanchez singled and homered to account for the lone Potomac run, as the P-Nats managed just five hits total.

Delmarva scored five times with two out in the 1st and cruised to a 5-2 win over Hagerstown. Matt Purke was lifted after 35 pitches, charged with the loss on five runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks. Connor Bach threw five and a 1/3rd no-hit innings of relief, but the Suns offense could only get back two. D.K. Carey and Osvaldo Abreu both went 2-for-3 to lead the nine-hit, three-walk attack.

West Virginia scored twice in each of the first two innings and held off a late charge from Auburn to win again, 8-5. Jefry Rodriguez continues to struggle, strafed again for four runs on three hits and four walks over four innings. It was the ninth time in 11 starts he has given up four or more runs. Second Round pick Andrew Stevenson went 2-for-5 in his pro debut while 16th Rd. pick Ian Sagdal reached base three times with a single, walk, and a double.
