Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 10 Syracuse 2 (11 inn.)
• Espino 7IP, 6H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 5K, HR
• Fornataro (L, 0-3) 7BF, 5H, 7R, 7ER, BB, 0K, HBP
• Gwynn 3-4, 3B
• Johnson 1-4, RBI; 1IP, 1H, 1R, 1ER, BB, 0K, 3-3 IR-S

By now, Syracuse fans are probably like Walter in “The Money Pit” after last night’s 10-2 loss in 11 innings. Down 2-1 with two outs in the 9th, the Chiefs got an error, a single, a wild pitch, a walk, and a Josh Johnson single to tie the game and send it into extras. Syracuse tried to give that run back in the 10th with a walk and an error, but got out of the 1st-and-2nd with nobody out jam. In the 11th, Eric Fornataro was lit up for five straight singles, issued a walk, then hit a batter and left with the score 6-2. Johnson came in from second base to mop up and gave up a walk and a double before getting what Fornataro couldn’t: three outs. Cutter Dykstra, who replaced Johnson at 2B, led off the 11th with single but there would be no answer for the RailRiders as the Chiefs lost their 12th straight.
Roster moves: RHP Paolo Espino activated from TIL; RHP Mitch Lively placed on the TIL; RHP P.J. Walters activated (acquired in trade June 1); IF Mario Lisson reassigned from Harrisburg; 3B Ian Stewart released.

Trenton 4 Harrisburg 3
• Voth (L, 2-4) 6IP, 6H, 4R, 1ER, BB, 5K, HBP
• Harper 1⅔ IP, 0H, 0R, BB, 2K
• Renda 2-4, 2R, SB, E
• Skole 2-4, RBI

The Senators rallied for two in the 8th pull within one of the Thunder, but couldn’t get the equalizer in the 9th as they fell, 4-3.
Austin Voth took the loss, charged with all four runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out five. Tony Renda and Matt Skole both went 2-for-4 to lead the Harrisburg attack of nine hits and two walks.

Potomac 10 Salem 6
• Lopez (W, 3-2) 7IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 4K, HR
• Bostick 3-5, R, HR, RBI, CS
• Ward 3-5, 3R, HR, RBI
• Miller 3-3, 2R, 2B, 3B, 3RBI

Potomac’s hitters weren’t bewitched by Salem’s pitchers as they pounded out a season-high 19 hits in a 10-6 win. Nobody walked, but everybody hit, with Christopher Bostick, Spencer Kieboom, Drew Ward, and Brandon Miller each collecting three hits and six total bases. Reynaldo Lopez got his third win in four starts not against Myrtle Beach, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings.

Greensboro 6 Hagerstown 1
• Baez 4⅓ IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 3K
• Johns (L, 0-1) 1⅓ IP, 6H, 5R, 5ER, 0BB, 2K, HR
• Marmolejos-Diaz 1-4, R
• Tillero 1-3

Hagerstown was no-hit for seven and 2/3rds innings in a 6-1 loss to Greensboro. Starter Joan (pronounced yo-ahn) Baez pitched into 5th in his Low-A debut with one hit and two walks allowed over four and a 1/3rd innings. He struck out three in the no-decision. Sam Johns got the last two outs of the 5th but was knocked for five runs in the 6th to take the loss, his first of the season. Jorge Tillero broke up the no-no with a single while Grant DeBruin ended the shutout with an RBI groundout in the 9th.

Trea Turner Update
Turner was 1-for-5 with a strikeout in San Antonio’s 8-7 win on Friday night.

And Ross called up to DC, where he acquitted himself pretty well.

Difo playing SS at Harrisburg first two games back, and had played 32 games at SS, 2 at 2B. Something’s got to give when Turner arrives next week, in the direction of Syracuse. Obviously they had no trouble promoting Ross.

Stewart the latest voted off the island. As Luke says, respect the players and their families, but it’s obvious other are going to get the hook.

Tillero an interesting dark horse at low A catcher. Maybe Read is hurt, but whatever the case, he is being outplayed and outpaced.

van Orden, like Voth, a 5th rounder with pro promise.

Gotta think Nick Lee is headed to Harrisburg soon to give souldrummer some relief. Sheesh. I can’t imagine paying admission for the number of late inning meltdowns they have had this year.
