Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 10 Syracuse 2
• Williams (L, 0-1) 4IP, 4H, 5R, 5ER, 2BB, 2K, HR
• Delcarmen 2IP, 1H, 0R, BB, 0K
• Gwynn 2-4, 2B, RBI
• Burriss 2-4, 2B

A five-run fourth was more than enough to send the Chiefs to their 11th straight loss, a 10-2 trainwreck to the RailRiders. Austen Williams was activated to fill in for A.J. Cole and, predictably, got hammered on the second turn through the lineup. He gave up five runs on four hits and two walks over four innings while striking out two. Tony Gwynn Jr. and Emmanuel Burriss both went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Syracuse offense.
Roster moves: RHP A.J. Cole recalled to Washington, RHP Taylor Jordan optioned from Washington; RHP Austen Williams transferred from Auburn.

Akron 3 Harrisburg 2
• Bacus 6IP, 8H, 2R, 2ER, BB, 6K, HR
• De Los Santos (L, 1-4) 1IP, 2H, R, ER, BB, K
• Goodwin 1-3, 2B, BB
• Skole 1-4, R, HR, RBI

Harrisburg got good pitching but not enough offense and lost yet another one-run game, 3-2. Dakota Bacus scattered eight hits over six innings, tossing a quality start of two runs over six innings. He walked one and struck out six. The loss went to Abel De Los Santos, who gave up a run in the 7th on two hits. Matt Skole homered in the 2nd while Brian Goodwin walked and doubled. The Senators totaled just six hits overall and left on five baserunners.
Roster move: IF Wilmer Difo optioned from Washington, IF Anthony Rendon MLB Rehab assignment ended.

Salem 13 Potomac 1
• Valdez (L, 0-1) 4⅓ IP, 10H, 9R, 5ER, 0BB, 2K, 4E
• K. Perez 3⅔ IP, 4H, 4R, 0ER, BB, 6K, HBP, WP, 1-1 IR-S
• Bostick 1-3, 2B, BB
• S. Perez 0-2, BB, SB, SAC

Salem continued its domination of Potomac with a 13-1 obliteration for its fifth win in as many meetings this season. Phillips Valdez was his own worst enemy as he committed four of the five P-Nats errors while letting in nine runs (five earned) on 10 hits over four and a third innings to suffer the loss. Kevin Perez finished the game and struck out six but gave up four unearned runs on four hits and a walk. The Potomac offense managed just three hits, with Christopher Bostick the sole P-Nat to reach base twice with a walk and a double while going 1-for-3.
Roster move: LHP Justin Thomas reassigned from Hagerstown.

Hagerstown 3 Greensboro 1
• Bach 6IP, 4H, 1R, 0ER, BB, K
• M. Sanchez (W, 2-2) 3IP, 1H, 0R, BB, 5K
• DeBruin 2-4, R, 2B
• Davidson 2-4, 2B, RBI

The Suns scored single runs in the 8th and 9th innings to pull away from the Grasshoppers and take the first game of the series, 3-1. Starter Connor Bach got the no-decision despite allowing just an unearned run on four hits and a walk over six innings. The win went to Mario Sanchez, who struck out five and walked one over the final three innings. Grant DeBruin and Austin Davidson both went 2-for-4 with a double though the Suns struggled with clutch hitting, as they 0-for-9 with RISP as the three runs scored on an error, home run (“Orange” Marmolejos-Diaz), and a two-out double that Davidson tried (and failed) to stretch into triple.
Roster moves: RHP Justin Amlung reassigned from Potomac; C Raudy Read placed on the 7-Day DL; C Jorge Tillero, RHP Joan Baez activated from XST; 1B Jose Marmolejos-Diaz transferred from Auburn; 1B Carlos Lopes transferred to Auburn.

Trea Turner Update
Another game, another 2-for-5 night. This time Turner only drove in one and didn’t strike out. What a bum.

Pretty hilarious that they had to resort to promoting a guy all the way down in Hagerstown to spot start for Syracuse. It’s too bad that they chose one of our only SPs in the minors who’s actually pitching well.

Luke. Shall we just let time pass with Robles and co
In XST not DSL or GCL??

The fact that Robles and Franco aren’t playing in the DSL likely means they’re ticketed for the GCL, which hasn’t started up yet. I’m excited to see what Robles can do this season. He’s been getting a lot of praise over the offseason.

Interesting question you pose Jeff. Perhaps the answer is Joe Ross to Cuse, Pivetta or Giolito to Harrisburg. I opt for Giolito. The team still has two starters who are posed to become free agents, Jordan and Cole have not yet shown that they can grab an open starter slot, and Strasburg also has a questionable future.

It’s pretty clear that the organization is keeping the Dominican stable from 2014 together to go to GCL like they did in 2013. The team gelled and was well coached and dominated after essentially working from March to start their season in July. Or, why they call it XST.

There is a lot of not-yet promoted talent that will land at Auburn, along with repeaters like Cody Gunter. Reetz, Eusebio, Encarnacion, Page, Gutierrez, Mejia, Ramirez all could have been pushed to Hagerstown.

As expected, folks are getting last chances before the influx of talent. Mooneyham the latest to go. Can see a lot of folks who may need a hook to free up space. Baez looks like an experiment, much like Lopez and Silvestre the year before — see how he does, if he needs work, send him to Auburn or back to GCL.

Matt Reisteter has relegated Raudy Read? What is his story? Anyone seen him play?
