Gwinnett scored single runs in the 1st and 3rd innings, but Syracuse answered with two in the 2nd and 4th and added a fifth run in the 5th to take a 5-2 lead. The Barves rallied for two in the bottom of the 9th but couldn’t push across the tying run to lose, 5-4. Bruce Billings got his first win with a quality start of two runs on five hits and a walk over six innings. Steven Lerud reached base four times with three singles and a walk and drove in a run to lead the Chiefs offense.

Mario Lisson drove in three while Joe Ross tossed seven strong innings as the Sens beat the Phils, 4-1. Ross notched his fourth straight quality start with one run let in on seven hits and a walk while fanning five. Casey Janssen pitched a scoreless 8th for the hold while Paul Demny did the same in the 9th for the save. Brian Goodwin led the hit column with two singles and a double while Lisson singled and homered in four trips to the plate as Harrisburg pounded out 11 hits total on the night.

He struck out six. Derek Self got the hold with one hit allowed over two innings while Nick Lee whiffed two of three batters in the 9th for the save. Spencer Kieboom went 2-for-4 while Isaac Ballou (single in the 6th) and John Wooten (double in the 7th) collected RBIs to power the Potomac offense.

Two Greenville pitchers shut out Hagerstown on four hits to take the game, 4-0, and split the four-game series. Phillips Valdez took the loss, his second, allowing a run on four hits over four innings while striking out four. Alec Keller was the sole Sun to reach base twice with a walk in the 4th and a single in the 6th.
