• McGregor (W, 3-2) 6⅔ IP, 7H, R, ER, 2BB, 4K

Chien Ming-Wang coughed up three runs in the 6th, but this time it was to the benefit of the Nats as Syracuse held off Gwinnett, 5-2. Scott McGregor allowed one run on seven hits and two walks over six and 2/3rds inning to pick up the win, with an assist (ok, fine: hold) from Mitch Lively who stranded two runners to finish the 7th. Matt den Dekker led the Chiefs offense with a 3-for-5 night while Emmanuel Burriss singled and walked to push his hit streak to 11.

Harrisburg 6 Reading 3
• Bleier (W, 1-0) 7IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 3K, HR
• Mendez 1IP, 0H, 0R, ER, 2BB, 1K
• D. Robinson 2-3, R, BB
• Hague 2-4

Harrisburg also broke through for three runs in the middle innings, turning a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead as they doubled up Reading, 6-3.
Richard Bleier was roughed up for a pair of runs in the 1st but settled down to go seven full, retiring 11 straight batters at one point. He gave up four hits, no walks, and struck out three. Derrick Robins reached base three times with a walks and two singles, while Ricky Hague also got two safeties as the Sens totaled nine hits and four walks on offense.
Roster moves: LHP Bryan Harper placed on 7-Day DL; RHP Hector Ambriz assigned from Washington (FA sign from L.I. Ducks, Atlantic League)

Potomac 5 Frederick 1
• Bacus (W, 1-0) 5IP, 2H, R, ER, 2BB, 7K
• Davis (H, 1) 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Miller 2-3, 2R, BB, 2HR, 3RBI
• Norfork 2-3, R, RBI

Brandon Miller went deep twice while Dakota Bacus turned in five strong innings on short rest as Potomac split the series with Frederick with a 5-1 victory. Miller also walked and was 2-for-3 overall, as was Khayyan Norfork to lead the P-Nats attack. Despite throwing on three days’ rest, Bacus turned in his best outing: one run on two hits and two walks over five with seven strikeouts, which earned him his first win of ’15. Erik Davis and Tyler Mapes both turned in two scoreless innings of relief to finish off the Keys.

Greenville 5 Hagerstown 4
• Reyes 5IP, 6H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 4K, HR
• Sanchez (L, 0-2) 2IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, BB, K
• Davidson 2-4, R, SB(5)
• Abreu 2-3, R, 2B, E(15)

The Drive rallied for two with two out in the 7th to snap a 3-3 tie and held on for a 5-4 win over the Suns. Luis Reyes got the start and was charged with three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four. The loss went to Mario Sanchez, who gave up two on three hits in the 7th after a scoreless 6th. Hagerstown scored four times without an RBI hit, thanks to a pair of sacrifice flies by Grant DeBruin and “Orange” Marmolejos-Diaz, an error on Austin Davidson’s steal of third, and Osvaldo Abreu getting pushed over and across by back-to-back groundouts to second after his leadoff double.
Roster moves: LHP Jake Walsh placed on the 7-Day DL; RHP Jake Amlung assigned from Washington.

Trea Turner Update
Turner tripled and walked in four plate appearances, extending his hit streak to seven games and his on-base streak to 12 contests in a 2-1 San Antonio loss.

    Erik Davis! Welcome back.
No Difo in yesterday’s lineup – but no DL move either. Let’s hope it was just a minor tweak and he’s back on the field soon.

I had the same reaction – an Erik Davis sighting! The AAA bullpen is pretty full at the moment, but I hope that he makes it all the way back.

Didn’t have time to thank you yesterday, but thank you Kirkie, for the links yesterday. Wouldn’t have caught them on my own.

No sweat: stumbled across them again myself. Will be good to see what other reports appear over the course of the season.

Is there a reason you don’t provide a link to Trea Turner’s box score? I like to click on it just to see our players’ stat lines to date.

    Thanks.

Looks like Phantom DL for Harper

    1. Kirkie says:
      May 12, 2015 at 10:30 am

Apparently not – he got some kind of injury in Sunday’s game (at the plate, would you believe, running out a ground ball, rather than pitching).

  4. Mel says:
    May 12, 2015 at 12:52 pm

Don’t you ever believe that look at the moves on the roster this is why I can’t stand the politics of minor league ball A guy like Harper who has little to no shot to ever throw a ball in the show will be used as a tool just crap

    1. Luke Erickson says:
      May 13, 2015 at 5:51 am

Well, no, that information isn’t hearsay

Sticking with the injury front, Bryan Harper was also removed from Sunday’s game with a right heel issue he suffered coming to a stop after trying to beat out his ground ball in the bottom of the seventh inning.

“He’s competitive. We’re down by a run and he’s trying to get an infield knock and it was a actually a close play,” the skipper revealed. “He tried to stop real quick. He hit the bag with his left foot and his right heel when he was stopping jammed up.”

Harper was in the middle of his third batter of the eighth inning when he summoned for the trainer and subsequently hobbled off the field. The team is pretty confident that it is just a bruise, but they want to reevaluate during the next couple of days. “It’s a sensitive area especially for a pitcher on their landing foot. You don’t want them to change their mechanics, Daubach said.
