A pitcher’s duel went into extras and Gwinnett was the last man standing with a 2-1 win in 10 innings. Taylor Jordan needed just 84 pitches to get through eight innings, in which he allowed just one run on six hits and no walks, but had no decision to show for it. Eric Fornataro pitched a scoreless 9th, but gave up a hit and a walk in the 10th which Rich Hill let in with two outs to give Fornataro the loss. Ian Stewart collected two of the seven Syracuse hits while Cutter Dykstra drew three of the Chiefs’ five walks. Syracuse left 12 men on base, including one in the 9th and two in the 10th.

Kevin Keyes’s two-run shot in the 7th broke open a 2-1 game as the Senators held off the Phils for a 4-3 win to complete the three-game sweep. Brian Rauh was Dr. Jekyll for this start, allowing one run on a HR and four hits total while walking three and fanning two over six innings for his first AA win. Keyes was 3-for-4 overall, leading the Harrisburg hit column, but the Sens struggled yet again to make Reading pay for walking seven batters with 1-for-8 mark with RISP and 10 men left on base. Brian Dupra worked around a hit and a walk in the 9th to close out the game and earn the save.

The offensive struggles for Potomac continue as they managed just five hits and lost in extras Wilmington, 3-2. Nick Pivetta turned in a quality start, giving two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out four. Jake Johansen followed and was perhaps pushed an inning too far, as the Blue Rocks got to him on their second look with a three singles in the 10th. Isaac Ballou was the sole P-Nat with multiple hits as he singled, doubled, scored a run, and stole his seventh base.
Hagerstown — OFF DAY
After a 4-3 road trip through Georgia and South Carolina, the Suns return to the Muni for eight games against the Power and the Grasshoppers, beginning with a doubleheader tonight.
