Charlotte 2 Syracuse 1
• McGregor 7IP, 8H, R, ER, 2BB, 2K, HR, HBP
• Delcarmen (L, 1-2) 1⅓ IP, 0H, R, ER, 4BB, 0K
• Hill 0IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K, 1-1 IR-S
• Burriss 1-3, R, CS
• Gwynn 1-4, 2B

For the second time this week, Rich Hill couldn’t get the job done, letting in the winning run on a single to the first batter he faced as Charlotte edged Syracuse, 2-1 to walk off in the 9th. The loss went to Manny Delcarmen, who walked four (one intentionally) over an inning and a 1/3rd. Scott McGregor started and gave up the first run on leadoff HR in the 1st and eight hits total over seven innings. Emmanuel Burriss broke up the no-hitter with a one-out single in the 6th, followed by a Tony Gwynn Jr. double. Darin Mastroianni grounded out to drive in the sole Chiefs run, the first of 11 straight Syracuse batter to be retired to finish the game.

Trenton 5 Harrisburg 4
• Janssen 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Voth 3⅔ IP, 4H, R, ER, 0BB, 2K, HBP
• Ambriz (BS, 1; L, 0-1) ⅔ IP, 3H, 4R, 4ER, BB, 0K, HR
• Lisson 2-4, R
• Difo 2-4
• Keyes 1-4, R, HR(GS), 4RBI

The Senators late-inning collapses continued with a 4-1 lead turned into a 5-4 loss by newcomer Hector Ambriz. Casey Janssen got in his work early, “starting” the game with a scoreless 1st before Austin Voth came on in “relief,” allowing a run on four hits over three and 2/3rds before a 95-minute rain delay in the bottom of the 5th. Kevin Keyes smacked a grand slam in the 6th to give Harrisburg a 4-1 lead that evaporated in the 9th with the coup de grace coming on a two-out, three-run HR off the bat of Dan Fiorito.

Potomac 5 Frederick 2
• Bacus (W, 2-0) 6IP, 4H, 0R, 2BB, 7K
• Mapes 4BF, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 0K
• Mesa 2-5, R, CS
• Wooten 2-4, 2R, 2B
• Miller 2-4, RBI

Potomac scored early and often (how novel) in a 5-2 win over Frederick. Dakota Bacus tossed six shutout innings to win for the second time in as many starts against the Keys, letting up four hits and two walks while matching his season high of seven strikeouts. Tyler Mapes became the latest victim of the “GBI curse” as he was not so good in giving up four hits to four batters faced without getting an out. The P-Nats pounded out 11 hits total, with Narciso Mesa, John Wooten, and Brandon Miller each connecting for two.
Roster move: LHP Matthew Spann reassigned to Potomac.

West Virginia 7 Hagerstown 6 (12 inn.)
• Sanchez 4IP, 5H, R, ER, 0BB, 2K
• Napoli (L, 2-1) 2⅔ IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, BB, 3K, HBP
• Carey 3-5, 2R, HR, 2RBI
• Gardner 2-5, R, RBI
• Marmolejos-Diaz 2-5, RBI

A pitcher’s duel early turned into a slugfest late as the Power outlasted the Suns, 7-6 in 12 innings. West Virginia scored single runs in the 6th and 7th innings to take a 3-1 lead. D.K. Carey’s two-run HR in the bottom of the 8th snapped a five-inning hitless streak and tied the game at 3-3. The Power answered with two in the top of the 9th to take a 5-3 lead but the Suns rallied again to tie it 5-5 and send it into extras. After swapping zeroes in the 10th and 11th, West Virginia took a 7-5 lead in the 12th and Hagerstown got three singles in the space of four batters to score the 6th run but a double-play ball ended the comeback bid and the game. David Napoli took the loss, allowing the final two Power runs on four hits and a walk over two and 2/3rds, while Mario Sanchez made the spot start with one run allowed on five hits over four innings.
RHPs Robbie Dickey and Andrew Cooper were activated and deactivated (respectively and vice-versa) prior to the game without further explanation.

Trea Turner Update
Turner continues to hit and get on base, as he was 1-for-3 with two walks and two strikeouts in a 10-4 Missions win.
