It was a battle of attrition between the Indianapolis and Syracuse bullpens in a 6-4 win by the visitors. Starter Scott McGregor took the loss with three runs allowed on six hits and two walks over six and a 1/3rd innings. Four relievers followed and none of them could prevent the Indians from scoring over the final two and 2/3rds innings. Emmanuel Burriss singled, walked, homered, and scored two runs while Ian Stewart walked twice and doubled once to pace the Chiefs offense.
Roster moves: OF Tony Gwynn Jr. activated from TIL; UT Jose Lozada placed on 7-Day DL.

Harrisburg 1 New Britain 0

Two veteran pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout as the Senators blanked the Rock Cats, 1-0. Richard Bleier gave up both hits and just one walks over eight innings while fanning seven to win his third game for Harrisburg. Hector Ambriz struck out the side — twice looking — on just 13 pitches to nail down the game and earn the save. Mario Lisson’s RBI single in the 3rd plated Derrick Robinson, who led the Senators hit column with a 2-for-4 night.
Roster move: RHP Sam Runion reassigned from Syracuse.

Reynaldo Lopez gave up five runs for the first time in more than two years and suffered his first loss as the Pelicans doubled up the P-Nats, 8-4. All his runs came in the 3rd on four hits (five total) and a walk (on seven pitches) as Myrtle Beach chased Lopez with two outs in the inning. Potomac homered three times with the bases empty and was unable to get the clutch hit (1-for-7 RISP) as the P-Nats scored just four times on 11 hits and three walks and left nine men on base.
Roster move: LHP Matthew Spann reassigned from Syracuse.

Lexington 5 Hagerstown 1
• Reyes (L, 1-3) 5IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER, 3BB, 3K, WP
• Mooneyham 3IP, 2H, R, ER, 3BB, 4K, WP, HBP

The Legends scored three times in the 3rd and never trailed as they evened the four-game series at one apiece with a 5-1 win over the Suns. Luis Reyes suffered the loss, letting in four runs on five hits and three walks over five innings. Brett Mooneyham finished the game with one run charged on two hits and three walks. Hagerstown outhit Lexington 9-7 with Grant DeBruin (2-for-4), D.K. Carey (1-for-3, BB), and Austin Davidson (same) each reaching base twice.

So Lopez is human after all. Guess he’ll be staying in Woodbridge a bit longer.

It’s good to see another strong outing from Mooneyham. He’s already 25, so I would expect that they will start pushing him up through the system pretty soon. You always cling to hope that such a high pick can mature into something more than organizational depth.
