Paolo Espino pitched seven scoreless innings and hit a three-run HR as the Chiefs stopped their seven-game slide with a 5-3 win over the Indians. Called up from Harrisburg to replace Taylor Jordan, Espino allowed just four hits and no walks while striking out three and earned the win. Dan Butler led the hit column with a 3-for-4 night, adding a triple and a run scored as well as an RBI as Syracuse made the most of their eight hits and two walks.
Roster moves: RHP Taylor Jordan recalled to Washington, RHP A.J. Cole optioned from Washington; RHP Paolo Espino, OF Caleb Ramsey reassigned from Harrisburg; OF Kila Ka‘aihue released.

Shawn Pleffner’s second double of the afternoon was the difference as the Senators edged the Rock Cats in 10 innings, 2-1. It was just the fifth hit for Harrisburg, with Matt Skole’s sacrifice fly in the 2nd providing the other run. Colin Bates made the spot start in place of Paolo Espino and turned in five innings of one-run ball. Sam Runion and Paul Demny followed with two scoreless innings apiece before giving way to Hector Ambriz, who struck out two in the 10th and got the win.
Roster move: OF Drew Vettleson activated from the 7-Day DL.

Three P-Nats pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout of the Pelicans by the minimum score of 1-0. Nick Pivetta went the first six, giving up three hits and one walk while striking out four. Derek Self got his third hold in four appearances with two hits let up over an inning and 2/3rds while Nick Lee stranded a runner in the 8th and pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 4th save in as many chances. Narciso Mesa tripled with one out in the 3rd and came home on a sacrifice fly by Christopher Bostick for the game’s only run.

Three straight walks with one out (two intentional) put Lexington on top 14-13 in the bottom of the 10th, earning the Legends a series split. David Napoli walked five total over one and 2/3rds innings to take the loss. The Suns were unable to hold leads of 9-8 and 13-10 after rallying from a 7-1 deficit after the 1st. Starter Jefry Rodriguez was pounded yet again: 10 runs on eight hits and four walks with zero (0) strikeouts. Jeff Gardner led Hagerstown’s 17-hit attack with two runs, three singles, a triple, and a walk, going 4-for-5 overall.

Trea Turner Update
The hit streak for Turner is now at nine with a 2-for-4 game on Sunday, pushing his batting average to a season-high .340

    Good news on Vettleson. He needs to stay healthy enough to show what he has, was once a top prospect.
    Good news is he’s still only 23. Bad news is only 250 AB’s since 2013.

    Looks like Ramsey will play some 1 b with Hawaiian released .
    Martinson continues to excel
    Maybe Skole promotion later in season ?

      Shouldn’t Skole get his average off of the interstate before being promoted?

      With regard to Martinson, I’m not sure I call a .239 batting average while striking out 59 times in 142 at bats “excelling.” Do you think he will be able to hit major league pitching?
