The Chiefs led 1-0 early but the Knights scored seven unanswered runs to take the game, 7-1 and the series, 2-1. Bruce Billings took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. Syracuse was held to just five hits, scoring the lone run on an infield groundout after loading the bases on an error, a hit batsman, and a single by Matt den Dekker. Jason Martinson and Mark Minicozzi both doubled while Steven Lerud and Darin Mastroianni notched the other two singles.

Trenton got to the Sens early with three in the 1st, but Harrisburg answered with 10 runs, beginning with five in the 4th as they built a lead big enough for the bullpen to hold and prevented a sweep with a 10-4 win. Richard Bleier recovered to record five scoreless after the 1st for a line of three runs (one earned) on seven hits over six innings pitched. Shawn Pleffner, Brian Goodwin, and Mario Lisson each had two hits as the Sens made the Thunder pay for issuing seven walks to score 10 times on just nine hits, with just one for extra bases (Pleffner’s double).

Reynaldo Lopez’s scoreless inning streak ended at 13 but the bullpen couldn’t hold his 2-1 lead after six as the Keys edged the P-Nats, 3-2. Lopez finished with one run let in on five hits and two walks as he struck out four. Justin Thomas took the loss as he gave up a single-double-double sequence with one out in the 7th as he retired just two of six batters faced. Christopher Bostick doubled twice, walked once, and was stranded three times, along with eight other baserunners as Potomac was 0-for-7 with RISP and left on 11 men.

Jeff Gardner’s two-out single in the 6th turned a no-decision into a win for Luis Reyes as the Suns edged the Power, 5-4 and took the five-game series, 3-2. Reyes allowed all four West Virginia runs on five hits and two walks over six innings and was not coming out to pitch the 7th when Hagerstown rallied for their 5th and final run. Gardner singled twice as did “Orange” Marmolejos-Diaz while Gavin DeBruin doubled twice to lead the 11-hit parade for the Suns.
