The HR bug continues to bite A.J. Cole, as two of three hits he gave up left the yard in a 5-1 Chiefs loss to the Bulls. Cole went six innings and was charged with three runs, all coming via the longball, with one walk and five strikeouts for his first AAA loss of the season. The Syracuse ‘pen gave up single runs in the 7th and 9th, but it was mostly moot as the offense consisted of Ian Stewart’s HR and six other hits, four of which came from Emmanuel Burriss (2-for-4) and Steven Lerud (2-for-3).

Altoona put up crooked numbers in the first two innings and another in the 9th as they reversed their fortunes from Saturday night to win this one, 7-4. Austin Voth labored through four innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks while fanning four, but needing 83 pitches to do it. James Simmons took the loss as he allowed the go-ahead run in his two innings of relief. Kevin Keyes singled once and doubled twice to lead the Sens offense, which struggled with RISP at 3-for-14.

Potomac scored in each of its last three “ups” to stop a three-game slide and walk off in the 9th, 4-3 vs. Frederick. Rehabbing Casey Janssen took away a “W” from Matt Spann, who turned in his best out of the year with six shutout innings with no walks and four hits allowed. Janssen was a single shy of giving up the cycle in the 7th, as her served up a homer, double, and triple for three runs. Christopher Bostick delivered the gamewinner after a walk, error, and failed double play got the deciding run to third with less than two out. Drew Ward doubled twice while Isaac Ballou singled twice to lead the P-Nats attack.

Three Suns pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout of the Drive for a 2-0 win. Drew Van Orden (3IP), Connor Bach (2IP), and David Napoli (4IP), each gave up one hit with Napoli earning the win while walking one and striking out six. “Orange” Marmolejos-Diaz singled to lead off the 7th and scored on Grant DeBruin’s RBI double. DeBruin took third on the failed play at the plate and scored on Jeff Gardner’s sacrifice fly to account for the two Hagerstown runs.
