The P-Nats scratched out runs with two outs in the 1st and 6th and survived a bases-loaded threat in the 7th to take the opener, 2-1.
Reynaldo Lopez threw five shutout innings and won his 2015 debut, giving up two hits, no walks, and striking out three. Dakota Bacus set the side down in order in the 6th but gave up three straight hits to open the 7th before settling down to earn the save, his third. John Wooten went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI while Christopher Bostick walked, tripled, and drove in the insurance run.

In Game Two, the Blue Rocks got the benefit of an error and a bases-loaded walk to score three unearned runs in a 3-1 win to split the doubleheader (and the series). Casey Janssen made the rehab “start” and dispatched the first three batters with less than a dozen fastballs and changeups. Nick Pivetta finished the game, allowing eight hits over six innings and walking in the first run. He struck out three while losing his third game. Isaac Ballou led off the 4th with a double and scored on Stephen Perez’s RBI single, preventing the shutout as the P-Nats managed just four hits total.

A pitcher’s duel turned into a slugfest, which the Suns emerged as the last man standing as they beat the Barves, 7-6. Phillips Valdez scattered eight hits over five innings of one-run ball while issuing one walk and fanning three to get the “W.” David Ramos let in the final run in the 8th but set the side down in order in the 9th to get his first save of 2015. “Orange” Marmolejos-Diaz smacked a three-run HR in Hagerstown’s four-run 6th and also doubled and tripled to lead the Suns offense with a 3-for-5 night.
