Matt Swynenberg’s AAA debut wasn’t much better than A.J. Cole’s MLB debut, but unlike the D.C. nine, the Syracuse batters were unable to wake up in a 4-1 loss. Swynenberg was dinged for two runs in each of the first two innings before posting a zero in the 3rd. He finished with six hits and four walks allowed. Mitch Lively and Manny Delcarmen combined for five no-hit innings of relief but the Chiefs were only able to break up the shutout with a run in the 5th as they were limited to six hits, three of which were collected by Josh Johnson.
Roster moves: Recalled RHP A.J. Cole to Washington; optioned RHP Rafael Martin from Washington.

Gilberto Mendez got two of the first three batters out in the 9th, but couldn’t get the third as he gave up three straight singles to blow a 2-1 Harrisburg lead to New Britain. The implosion turned Tim Alderson’s seven innings of one-run ball into a no-decision as the starter gave up six hits and a walk while striking out four. Pedro Severino collected three hits for the second straight game, followed by Ricky Hague’s 2-for-4 effort to lead the Sens offense.

Winston-Salem 5 Potomac 3

Winston-Salem continued its domination of Potomac at BB&T park with a 5-3 win. John Simms took the loss, letting in three runs on two hits and three walks over three and 2/3rds innings in his season debut. Tyler Mapes finished the game, allowing the final two Dash runs on five hits. Wilmer Difo and Isaac Ballou both singled twice and scored a run in the P-Nats’ fourth straight loss.

West Virginia 10 Hagerstown 2 — COMP.

The Power scored eight times in their first two turns at bat, turning a 1-0 deficit into a 10-2 win in the completion of the April 15 game. Ryan Ullmann was charged with all ten runs on eight hits and five walks over four innings. He struck out two. The Suns were held to just four hits, with Matt Reistetter and “Orange” Marmolejos-Diaz both going 1-for-3 with a double.

Hagerstown 6 West Virginia 2 — GAME TWO

Hagerstown scored in four straight innings as they split the de facto doubleheader with a 6-2 win in the second game played. Starter Connor Bach struck out eight but walked three in four innings as he gave up both West Virginia runs on two hits. David Ramos followed with three scoreless innings to earn the win, his first of the season. Austin Davidson hit two solo HRs and drove in a third run with a sacrifice fly to lead the Suns 12-hit parade.

Trea Turner Update
Turner did not play in Monday’s game. He did not leave Sunday’s game with an injury and was playing defense in the 12th inning when the game ended.
