Syracuse 5 Lehigh Valley 4
• Billings 5IP, 5H, 2R, 1ER, BB, 5K, HBP
• Delcarmen (W, 1-0) 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, K
• Meek (SV, 1) 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Martinson 3-4, 2R, 2B, RBI
• Dykstra 2-4, RBI

After blowing a 3-2 lead in the 7th, Syracuse rallied for two in the 9th to edge Lehigh Valley, 5-4. Jason Martinson (3-for-4) doubled to tie it while Cutter Dykstra (2-for-4) singled with the infield in to win it. The rally gave Manny Delcarmen the “W” for a scoreless 8th while Evan Meek struck out two in the 9th to secure the save. Bruce Billings started and went the first five, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits. He walked one and struck out five. Roster move: OF Matt den Dekker optioned from Washington

Bowie 2 Harrisburg 1
• Swynenberg (L, 0-1) 6IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 3K, HR
• Self 2IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Keyes 2-4, R, HR, RBI
• Hague 1-3

Bowie spoiled Matt Swynenberg’s return to AA, making him pay for his one mistake in a 2-1 Harrisburg loss. The 26-y.o. walked two, struck out three and gave up two hits over six innings. The problem? One of those hits was a two-run homer. Kevin Keyes’s solo shot in the 7th broke up Baysox shutout bid and his single in the 9th with two outs was the fourth and final hit for the Senators, which had just one RISP chance and left on four for the night.

Winston-Salem 4 Potomac 3
• Spann (L, 0-1) 5IP, 7H, 4R, 4ER, BB, 6K, WP
• Johansen 4IP, 4H, 0R, BB, 2K
• Difo 2-4, R, HR, 2RBI
• Bostick 2-4, SB

While it did not render any runs unearned, sloppy defense in the 5th was the undoing of the P-Nats in a 4-3 loss. A throwing error, a wild pitch, and a passed ball were all rendered moot by an RBI triple, the seventh and final hit surrendered by starter Matt Spann, who was charged with all four Winston-Salem runs while walking one and striking out six. Jake Johansen finished the game with four strong innings. Wilmer Difo’s two-run homer in the 1st and John Wooten’s solo shot in the 9th were the bookends to an otherwise dismal offense (five hits, one walk).

West Virginia 3 Hagerstown 1
• Valdez (L, 0-1) 4IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, 3BB, 4K, HR
• Sanchez 4IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB, 3K
• Gardner 2-4, 2B, RBI
• W. Rodriguez 2-4, SB

The Suns fell behind 3-0 after three and managed only to break up the shutout for a 3-1 loss to the Power. Phillips Valdez started and gave up all four West Virginia runs on four hits and three walks over four innings. Mario Sanchez shut down the Power for four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks. Hagerstown collected eight hits total, led by Jeff Gardner and Wilman Rodriguez, who both went 2-for-4.

Trea Turner Update
Turner notched his first multi-hit game with a 3-for-5 night while stealing a base in a 5-2 San Antonio win.
