The IronPigs smelted reliever Manny Delcarmen for a seven-run 7th, turning a 1-1 tie into an 8-1 lead as they held off the Chiefs for an 8-5 victory. Richard Bleier made the spot start in place of Taylor Jordan and gave up a run on four hits over four innings. Sam Runion, also up from AA, turned in two scoreless innings. Kila Ka‘aihue smacked a three-run HR in the 8th and doubled in the 2nd to go 2-for-4 and lead the Syracuse offense. Roster moves: RHP Taylor Jordan recalled to Washington; LHP Richard Bleier, RHP Sam Runion reassigned from Harrisburg.

A four-run 4th was the difference in this one as Bowie defeated Harrisburg, 7-3 and took the series, 2-1. Joe Ross went five innings in his second start but was roughed up for six runs (four earned) on nine hits over five innings. He walked two and struck out six. Caleb Ramsey was the sole Senator to collect multiple hits, going 2-for-4 while Shawn Pleffner drove in all three Harrisburg runs while going 1-for-3 with a walk. Roster moves: OF Denard Span completed MLB rehab assignment. Next stop: Hagerstown.

Winston-Salem 1 Potomac 0 — GAME ONE

Winston-Salem’s James Dykstra faced the minimum 21 batters in a 1-0 win vs. Potomac for a seven-inning no-hitter. Nick Pivetta matched goose eggs with hm for five innings, giving up two hits and a walk before giving way to Justin Thomas in the 6th. A two-out walk to Trey Michalczewski followed by a double by Keon Barnum accounted for the game-winning run for the Dash.

Potomac 6 Winston-Salem 2 — GAME TWO

Wilmer Difo and Isaac Ballou both homered as the P-Nats ran wild, stealing six bases in a 6-2 win to split the doubleheader and prevent a series sweep by the Dash. Dakota Bacus gave up both Winston-Salem runs on two hits and two walks over three innings in the spot start while Cody Davis spun three shutout innings in relief to earn the win. Estarlin Martinez led the hit column with a 3-for-3 mark, followed by Ballou at 2-for-3, while Difo and Chris Bostick both walked twice.

Hagerstown 1 West Virginia 0 — GAME ONE

The Suns got a run in the 1st on three walks and a hit batsman and made it stand up for a 1-0 victory. Austen Williams got the win with seven whiffs over five and 2/3rds innings, allowing four hits and a walk. R.C. Orlan earned the save by retiring the last batter of the 6th and tossing a 1-2-3 seventh. West Virginia’s relievers retired 18 of 19 batters after starter Jake Burnette was lifted with two outs in the 1st, and none of the three pitchers gave up a hit. Since 1991, MLB has defined a no-hitter as “a game in which a pitcher, or pitchers, gives up no hits while pitching at least nine innings.”

Hagerstown 1 West Virginia 0 — SUSP.

Play was halted by rain in the bottom of the second inning with the Suns leading, 1-0. Matt Reistetter’s double following a leadoff walk by Wilman Rodriguez in the 1st gave Hagerstown the early lead. Ryan Ullman retired four of six batters faced.
A makeup date for the suspended game has not yet been announced. Hagerstown does not return to West Virginia in the first half while the Power visit twice, Apr. 28-30 and May 14-17.
