Catching Up On Transactions
While others were hitting refresh on the Washington MLB.com 40-man roster yesterday, confirming that the Michael Taylor era has begun (as well as yet another Rizzo-era Arizona draftee making the cut), we were scanning the wires for the latest moves in the minors…
SYRACUSE
• Released C Omir Santos
GCL Nationals
• Released RHP John Costa
DSL Nationals
• LHP Isaias Silfa retired
Admittedly, it’s not much. Santos hadn’t been more than a backup since 2009 and played just 11 games in 2014. Costa was drafted in the 13th round in June 2013 as a TJS gamble that didn’t pan out (yes, it happens). Silfa appeared in one (1) DSL game last summer as a 20-y.o. lefthander and finishes with a career 0.00 ERA (and a 9.00 BB, K, and HBP per 9IP).
Should the Baseball America weekly dispatch include others not listed here, this space will be updated. Otherwise, we await the release of the rosters tomorrow and Wednesday.
Thanks, Luke. Always glad when the new list of released players comes out and I don’t know them. 🙂
When will the minor league rosters be set?
I’m expecting announcements tomorrow afternoon
Glad to see Cutter and Martinson in Cuse to balance
Out all the LH bats. Maybe Martinson can play some
Outfield against a tough lefty
XST question : Lisson , Jeroloman and others
Are like in the in transit area in big airport. Just waiting for
Their next destination via trade or injuries?
Should be a long XST list with not all Auburn guys
Making Hagerstown ?
Carp just refused to go to Syracuse; I’m sure he felt the offers would be coming fast & furious after his Espinosa-like hitting performance this spring.
That should settle the picture for Syracuse.
Israel Silfas great name but too many arm aches.
Skill is typing in smart phone with 3 year old Boston
Terrier on other arm.
Ty luke for going out on limb with some promotions
Ramsey should be a fun guy to follow evenif he is daubach
Disciple .
Heading to Hagerstown Catina team meet tonight
I expect a few more auburn kids like Langlois
And the cool Latin swinger ED. Even Fred and a couple of
GCL kids
MASN didnot add Homer Simpson ugh audio
For Uggla keystone cop pop up! Lol
Rosters are up, folks. No Lucas giolito, twinkle toes fans. Stashing him in viera to save innings. Beat writers will get early info. Luke will drop #thestraightdope. I’ll clown everybody!
Here’s a link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/nationals-journal/wp/2015/04/07/minor-league-rosters-released-lucas-giolito-reynaldo-lopez-not-at-class-a-potomac-yet/
A number of the pitchers are staying in Viera, including Giolito, Lopez, Solis, and Purke. On first glance, there aren’t many surprises, or many cuts of guys we speculated might be on the chopping block. Make the most of this chance, guys! I’m a little surprised that Skole is still at Harrisburg, but I guess they’re getting 3B time for Stewart in Syracuse.
Has anyone seen anything about Goodwin’s condition? It’s worrisome that he wasn’t able to play any during the spring.
Labrum is a real bad injury.
