Though second base is no longer a gaping hole for the parent club, casual fans may still be interested this 24-y.o. who has yet to play at AA. He’s a scout favorite for his work ethic, and gets a lot of play as a 2012 second round pick. He can hit and get on base, but has little-to-no power and fringy speed. His glove and arm limit him to second base, taking away the utility guy option. With the acquisition of ↓ this guy ↓ one has to wonder if he’ll eventually be traded. |

Is Bostick stuck at High-A for 2015? That’s the biggest question that has no clear-cut answer. Acquired in a trade with Texas in December 2014, the upstate NY native will be just 22 on Opening Day. With High-A Myrtle Beach, he hit slightly better than league average in 2014, but with decent pop for a middle infielder (11 HR, .412 SLG%). Ordinarily, that would merit a shot at AA but he would appear to be blocked by Renda, and a position change would also seem unlikely. Thus, it’s possible he may repeat the level and be teamed up with Wilmer Difo as the Potomac double-play tandem. |

The knee-jerk comp is Tony Renda with less speed but more power. Davidson is a 13th Rd. pick out of the Univ. of Pepperdine in June 2014 and was prev- iously selected in the 21st Rd. by the Red Sox in 2011. Davidson split time between 2B and 3B at Auburn and Hagerstown last summer but scouts believe his “heavy feet” will eventually end his time at third. At the plate, he’s been praised for having both quick hands and an easy swing, thus his hitting skills will dictate how far up the ladder he goes. |

Alvarez was born in the U.S. to Dominican parents but took the unusual step of moving to the D.R. in 2010 to embark upon a professional career, signing with the Nationals in 2012 as a 17-y.o. after playing in the Dominican Prospect League. After two seasons in the DSL, he was challenged with a jump to the GCL last summer and responded with a dramatic improvement in slugging (.237 to .380) while settling in at 2B on defense (has also played SS and CF). |
