Pedro Severino Born: 7/20/93 Ht. 6’1″ Wt. 180 Bats: R Throws: R Career Stats |
Early on, Severino seemed hell-bent on trying to live up to the hype for his defense, and his offense seemed to suffer as well (.571 OPS through the end of May). In the second half, he began driving the ball more consistently and taking more walks to finish with an .849 OPS from July onward. Likewise, his defense improved as he finished with career lows in errors and passed balls while showing good agility and decent speed on the basepaths. |

Spencer Kieboom DOB: 3/16/91 Ht. 6’0″ Wt. 220 Bats: R Throws: R Career Stats |
Nats elbow isn’t just for pitchers as Kieboom (pronounced KEY-BOOM) missed nearly all of 2013 rehabbing from TJ surgery. The Clemson back- stop picked up where he left off in 2012 with a .309/.352/.500 season for the Suns, though he was about 18 months older than the league avg. Defensively, his strengths are receiving and blocking while scouts call his arm average-but-accurate. He’ll most likely be the starting catcher for Potomac in 2015. |

Raudy Read Born: 10/29/93 Ht. 6’0″ Wt. 170 Bats: R Throws: R Career Stats |
Should either catcher in front of him falter, Read seems poised to step up after making major strides on both sides of the ball in 2014. The power switch came back on with a .462 SLG% mark while he threw out 47% of would-be thieves. Unfortunately, the rest of his defensive game is wanting, as scouts are down on his receiving, blocking, foot- work, and pitch-calling. The bat, however, they like and at 21, he’ll likely be kept behind the plate to let his glove catch up. |

Jakson Reetz Born: 1/3/96 Ht. 6’1″ Wt. 195 Bats: R Throws: R Career Stats |
Let the Derek Norris comps begin. However, Reetz is already ahead of him with the glove at the same age, which is why they let him catch 33 games versus 14. The unusually selective eye for a teenager (26BB in 43G) is the same, if not better, than the San Diego Padre catcher. Scouts like his short, right-handed swing that drives balls to the gaps. They believe he can develop into a major-league hitter with average power with the skills to become an above-average defender. |
If Severino can hit anywhere near his late ’14 stats in Harrisburg this year, great things will start happening.
I worked with a guy who played professionally for 4 years and he came away amazed by his arm, said his arm at least is big league ready now.
Reetz is so young, you have to figure he’ll grow a few more inches at least.
