Buffalo and Syracuse battled back and forth before breaking through with two in the 7th and holding on for 6-5 win. Josh Roenicke was charged with the first four Bisons runs on nine hits and two walks over five innings. Xavier Cedeno got the win in relief, stranding a pair of runners in the 7th and pitching a scoreless 8th. Warner Madrigal was touched for a run on two hits in the final frame but earned the save, his second at the AAA level. Tyler Moore and Zach Walters both homered while Sandy Leon went 3-for-3 with a walk as the Chiefs totaled 10 hits and two walks on the night.

Harrisburg — OFF DAY
After taking the past two series at home two games to one, the Senators hit the road for three in Erie and three in Bowie as they continue their second of three straight weeks of Tuesday-to-Sunday with Monday off.

Potomac decided to win this one an inning early with three in the 8th and held off Carolina for a 5-4 win, reducing their magic number to clinch to four. The 6-7-8 combo of Khayyan Norfork, Will Piwnica-Worms, and Justin Miller combined for five of the P-Nats’ seven hits, including back-to-back-back RBI singles that turned a 3-2 disadvantage into a 5-3 advantage. The rally took starter Brett Brach off the hook for a loss as he gave up those three runs on seven hits and two walks over fine innings. The win went to Derek Self, though he was peppered for five hits over two innings. Robert Benincasa registered save #10 with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Roster moves: LHP Kylin Turnbull placed on the 7-Day DL; LHP Chris Manno assigned from Washington; RHP Derek Self added to Carolina League All-Star Team.

The Suns broke a five-inning deadlock in the 12th with a pair of runs to stop a three-game slide with a 5-3 win, which reduced their magic numer to three. Lucas Giolito spun four no-hit innings, walking three but fanning six. His teammates had built a 3-0 lead with two in the 2nd and one in the third only to see Lakewood follow suit in the 5th and 6th innings off reliever Andrew Cooper. Four relievers combined for six scoreless innings afterwards, with the win going to Joseph Webb and the save going to Jake Walsh. Spencer Kieboom led the nine-hit, five-walk attack with a 3-for-5 game, including a walk, double, and a run scored.
Roster move: UT Jeff Kobernus transferred to Potomac for MLB rehab.

The D-Nats scored in each of the first three innings to build a 4-0 lead and held off a late charge by the D-Rockies for a 7-5 win, their third straight. Wilber Pena got the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks. Angher Cespedes let in two of three inherited runners with no outs in the 8th but finished out the game for his second save. Davinson Pimentel and Victor Robles both went 2-for-3 with two doubles to lead the D-Nats offense.

      Yes … great pickup. I saw that as a rumour here recently, but haven’t seen any real announcement of a trade or a signing.

        He was released by Pensacola on May 26. The Nats picked him up as a free agent afterward.

    His minions might of moved to Cinncy but seriously this is a great pick up by the Nats. I have had the pleasure of watching him because I live part time in Pensacola, he is very good and guys I say this not as a minion but as a fan, he is a super young man that people gravitate to. Thanks for bringing him back , great pick up

        The two highest picks to have signed are Van Orden and Reetz. The other 11 are later picks/no one noteworthy. Ladson didn’t specify.

    Looking at the Doubledays roster, it’s interesting to see the top 4 DSL Arms from the watch list heading to Auburn to start, at least until the draft guys sign.
