An 11-run 2nd put this one away early as Syracuse destroyed Durham, 16-3. James Simmons shook off the long delay to go seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk to record his first AAA win of the season. Just three of the 21 hits the Chiefs compiled were for extra bases — two doubles by Brock Peterson, who had four hits as did Will “Don’t Call Me Buster” Rhymes, and one by Steve Souza, who tallied five RBI.

Harrisburg dialed long distance three times, including a three-run shot by Wilson Ramos in the 3rd as they ended a five-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over Akron. Ricky Hague and Kevin Keyes also went deep, with Hague the sole Senator to record multiple hits. Paolo Espino got the win, giving up both RubberDuck runs on four hits and no walks over five innings. He struck out a season-high of eight. Derek Self turned in three scoreless innings for the hold while Robert Benincasa retired the side in order for his first AA save.

The P-Nats scored three in the 1st and were in control from start to finish for a 10-2 win over the Hillcats. Matthew Spann threw five shutout innings, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out two for the win, his team-leading fifth “W” for the P-Nats. Potomac batters put up a baker’s dozen of hits, including a double by Shawn Pleffner (1-for-3), a triple by Stephen Perez (1-for-3) and a home run by Oscar Tejeda (3-for-5).

The Suns led this one early, 3-0, but the Grasshoppers got to Lucas Giolito with back-to-back solo home runs to lead off the 3rd, then chased him in the 5th with four straight hits with one out as they went on to an 8-4 win. Washington’s #1 prospect finished with a line of four runs allowed on six hits and two walks over four and a 1/3rd innings. Isaac Ballou led the Hagerstown hit column with a 3-for-4 game, which included a double and stolen base. Wilmer Difo racked up seven total bases with a triple and a home run.

Auburn scored in each of the first three innings en route to a 5-3 win and two-game sweep of Williamsport. Luis Reyes got the start but gave up all three Crosscutter runs on six hits and two walks. He struck out five. Deion Williams threw four innings of two-hit relief, issuing one walk and fanning four to earn the win. Raudy Read doubled twice, walked once, and drove in three. The Doubledays totaled nine hits and ten walks on offense, which led to 13 men left on base.

The win went to Yorlin Reynoso, who walked two and struck out one over two innings, while David Fischer struck out five of seven batters faced in his two scoreless frames, which earned him a hold. Dionicio Rosario singled three times and walked once to lead the offense, while 18-y.o. Oliver Ortiz hit his first professional homer.

The D-Nats coughed up four runs in both the 3rd and 5th innings to blow an 8-2 lead and lose to the D-Rojos, 10-9. Jose Nunez started and went two and 2/3rds innings, charged with five runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out five. The loss went to Steven Fuentes, his second, with two runs allowed over three innings on one hit and one walk with three strikeouts. Israel Mota and Anderson Franco combined for seven of the 12 D-Nats hits.
