Taylor Jordan returned from a long layoff to turn in five innings of one-run ball, leaving with a 2-1 lead. The Clippers got the the Chiefs ‘pen for three runs in the 7th and held on for a 4-2 win. Jordan gave up three hits, walked none, and struck out six in his AAA debut. Zach Jackson was tagged with the loss when Ryan Mattheus let in one two inherited runners and coughed up one of his own for his third blown save. Steve Souza reached base three times with a single and two walks to keep his on-base streak alive at 17 games.

Binghamton took an early 3-0 lead and piled on the ‘pen late as they defeated Harrisburg, 5-2. Paolo Espino gave up just two hits over five innings, but walked and hit a batter before serving up a homer in the 2nd to lose his second straight start. Matt Skole’s 2014 home run drought also ended with a solo shot in the 4th. The Sens pulled within one at 3-2 in the 7th on a Ricky Hague RBI double but
Sean Nicol’s second single couldn’t plate Hague to tie the game. Tyler Herron gave up two in the 8th to give the B-Mets breathing room. Harrisburg went in order in the 9th to lose for the second time in three games.

Potomac rallied from a 3-0 first-inning deficit and held off a late charge from Myrtle Beach to halt a three-game skid with a 6-5 win. Ian Dickson recovered from the early damage to toss five scoreless frames for a total of three runs on five hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out four but did not receive the decision. That went to Matthew Spann who was victimized by Pelican DH-to-be Joey Gallo for a two-run HR in the 8th. Derek Self stranded two inherited runners and pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save of ’14. Shawn Pleffner drove in the tying and go-ahead runs while going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI to lead the P-Nats attack, followed closely by Randolph Oduber’s single, double, walk, and three runs scored in four PAs.

I know this is late, but can we just cheer Brad Meyers for a moment; 3 YEARS between starts at Harrisburg, and he was pretty good to boot.
Put Sammy Solis in Harrisburg & we have the makings of a very good starting staff with A.J. Cole already pitching terrifically there.
Mark L this is the first cause for genuine optimism I have received to date. Glad to see that Meyers is back in action. I spoke to him at Spring Training briefly. He said he was feeling good, and he would return as a productive player. I’m going to check the box score to see just how productive he was.
