Syracuse 7 Pawtucket 0
• Rosenbaum (W, 1-1) 6⅔IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB, 5K
• Delcarmen 1⅓IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Souza 3-4, R, HR, 5RBI, BB
• Walters 2-5, R, 3B

Three Chiefs pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout as Syracuse avoided the sweep with a 7-0 win over Pawtucket. Danny Rosenbaum got his first win with just two hits and two walks given up over six and 2/3rds innings while striking out five. Steve Souza Jr. was a one-man wrecking crew, going 3-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, and five RBI, three of which came when he dialed long distance in the 3rd inning. Zach Walters and Will “Don’t Call Me Buster” Rhymes also went 2-for-5 with an extra base hit, with Walters tripling and Rhymes doubling. Roster move: OF Erik Komatsu reassigned from Auburn (XST).

New Britain 5 Harrisburg 4
• Schwartz (L, 0-2) 4⅔IP, 8H, 5R, 4ER, 4BB, 2K, HR
• Herron 1⅔IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Martinson 3-4, 2R, 3B
• Hood 2-4, R, RBI

The longball remains the Achilles heel for Blake Schwartz as another three-run home run was his undoing in a 5-4 Harrisburg loss to New Britain. The damage was done early as the Rock Cats pounced on the Minnesota native for the Earl Weaver special in the 1st inning. Schwartz would give up all five runs (four earned) on eight hits and four walks for his second loss. Zack Jackson and Tyler Herron each turned one and 2/3rds scoreless innings to keep the Senators in striking distance. Jason Martinson went 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, followed by Destin Hood with a 2-for-4 effort as Harrisburg rapped out 10 hits total.

Lynchburg 10 Potomac 7
• Rauh (L, 0-1) 2⅔ IP, 9H, 8R, 4ER, 0BB, 3K, HR

The Shorebirds took the rubber game of the three-game series with a 5-3 win over the Suns. Austin Voth took the loss with four runs allowed on five hits and three walks over four and 2/3rds innings. He struck out six. The leadoff man (Wilmer Difo) and the No. 9 man (Rafael Bautista) combined for two runs, two RBI, four singles, a double and a triple. But the other seven guys had but four hits and
whiffed 11 times.
