Syracuse vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre — PPD
It’s the third postponement in eight days for the Chiefs, who will try to make this one up with a pair of seven-inning games tonight in suburban Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA. Injury Update: Judging by his Twitter pic, UT Jeff Kobernus has undergone a medical procedure to repair a fracture in his left hand and will most likely be out the rest of April and probably May, too.

It was the same story (rain) roughly 120 miles down I-81 from Moosic, PA at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg. The Sens will also hold a Saturday twinbill to get back on track.

Tony Renda’s third hit of the night snapped a 1-1 tie while Oscar Tejeda’s second homer in as many days gave the P-Nats a 4-1 lead as they held off the Mudcats for a 4-2 win. Starter Brett Mooneyham walked five in four-plus innings to bring his season total to 11 in six and 1/3rd innings but let in no runs and struck out two. Bryan Harper followed with two and a 1/3rd innings of relief, giving up an unearned run to tie the game in the 7th. Travis Henke got the win in relief, though he gave up the second Carolina run. Gilberto Mendez worked around a single and a hit batsman to earn the save, his first of ’14. Renda (3-for-4), Tejeda (2-for-4), and Randolph Oduber (2-for-4) combined for seven of the eight Potomac hits on the night. Renda’s third hit, an infield single in the 7th, came at a cost as he pulled up lame and left the game with a noticeable limp, according to the P-Nats broadcast and gamer. No official word yet as to the nature and/or extent of the injury, though the logical deduction is a muscle strain, typically the hamstring.

The Hagerstown bullpen put in overtime, pitching eight stellar innings as the Suns boiled the BlueClaws, 5-1. Hector Silvestre left after being struck by a line drive to lead off the 2nd. Andrew Cooper turned in four innings of long relief to get the win, allowing the lone Lakewood run on four hits while walking none and fanning two. Justin Thomas followed with three perfect innings, and Jake Walsh close out the game with a 1-2-3 ninth. Wilmer Difo paced the Suns offense with three singles and a stolen base, his 6th of the season thus far.
