Omar Poveda was pounded again, giving up runs in each of his four innings thrown as the RailRiders defeated Syracuse, 7-1. The 26-y.o. Venezuelan was charged with six runs on ten hits and two walks to lower his ERA to 14.63. Emmanuel Burriss singled while Brian Goodwin double to account for both Syracuse hits. Both the Senators and A.J. Cole won for the second time this season as Harrisburg tripled up Reading, 9-3. Cole struck out five and walked none while allowing just one run on three hits over five innings pitched. Destin Hood singled four times and stole three bases to lead the Sens’ ten-hit attack. Injury news: OF Drew Vettleson was hit in the hand in his first PA and replaced defensively two innings later. Mick Reinhard of Mayflies & Big Flies is reporting he’ll be sent for X-rays today with the hopes of confirming the initial diagnosis of a bruise.

Carolina had a grand time against the P-Nats as they scored six times in the 2nd en route to a 12-2 mauling of Potomac. Starter Nick Lee walked five of 12 batters faced while suffering his second loss, getting knocked out in the 2nd for the second time this homestand. Cole Leonida homered to account for both P-Nats runs and deny the Mudcats a shutout.

Hagerstown completed a four-game sweep of Lakewood with a 6-1 smackdown. The combined score of the series was 23-4. Jake Johansen got his first Low-A win with five innings of one-run ball, though he walked four and hit a batter and struck out six. Every Suns batter hit safely, with John Wooten and James Yezzo both going 2-for-4 to lead the Hagerstown offense.
