Jeff Mandel threw seven strong innings, Will “Don’t Call Me Busta” Rhymes scored three and drove in three as Syracuse tripled up Indianapolis, 6-2. Mandel allowed just a single run on six hit and a walk while fanning six for his second win in three starts. Rhymes broke the 0-0 tie with a three-run shot in the 4th as he singled and drew two walks to reach base four times on the night. Corey Brown led the Chiefs hit column with a 3-for-4 effort.

A four-run 3rd put Potomac in the driver’s seat as they cruised to their ninth straight win, 5-3 over Wilmington. Brian Rauh gave up all three Blur Rocks runs on 10 hits and a walk for his fourth win for the P-Nats, seventh overall. Travis Henke struck three over two scoreless for the hold while Colin Bates worked around a hit in the 9th for his first save. Cutter Dykstra extended his on-base streak to 28 games with a single and a walk while Michael Taylor and Francisco Soriano both went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored to highlight Potomac’s 12-hit, two-hit attack.

Asheville struck for three in the 4th to break open a 1-0 lead and held off a late charge to hand Hagerstown a 4-2 loss in the opener. Starter Nick Lee walked five for the second time in three starts while allowing all four Tourist runs on six hits. He struck out seven to bring his season total to 100. Nos. 1-2 batters Narciso Mesa and Tony Renda combined for four hits and a walk, but scored just once as the Suns went 0-for-8 with RISP and stranded seven runners.
Hagerstown 4 Asheville 0 — GAME TWO

The Suns put up two-spot in the first two innings while three pitchers combined to shut out the Tourists, 4-0, and split the doubleheader. Ian Dickson tossed five scoreless innings for his fourth win, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out four. Estarlin Martinez’s two-run HR following a Shawn Pleffner double got the scoring started as the Hagerstown 3-4 batters combined for three hits and three RBI on the night.

Auburn rallied from deficits of 5-1 and 6-3 to tie it at 6-6 but couldn’t match Jamestown’s two-run 8th to fall, 8-7. Starter Joel Barrientos was lit up for six runs on four walks and six hits, including a three-run shot in the 1st. Jake Joyce took the loss, his third, giving up two runs on two hits and three walks. Jean Carlos Valdez was a double shy of the cycle with a single, triple, and a homer on a 3-for-5 night.

The G-Nats broke open a 1-0 game with three in the 6th and four in the 7th en route to an 8-1 pummeling of the G-Marlins. Philips Valdez got the start and let up just two hits over four innings. Elliott Waterman got the win as the first man out of the ‘pen, allowing an unearned run on four hits and a walk. Osvaldo Abreu, Raudy Read, and Garrett Gordon each went 2-for-4 and combined for four doubles and five RBI as the G-Nats pounded out 10 hits total for the game.
Roster move: RHP Luis Reyes reassigned from DSL; OF Steve Souza Jr. assigned from Harrisburg for minor-league rehab.

The D-Nats clinched a winning season with a 4-2 win over the D-Rojos. Jose Morales was the winning pitcher, giving up an unearned run on two hits and no walks while setting down four on strikes. Yorlin Reynoso and Yefri Pena both followed with two innings to earn the hold and save respectively. Darryl Florentino went 2-for-4 with an RBI to pace the D-Nats offense.
