Syracuse — OFF DAY
It’s eight games in six days for the Chiefs, beginning with the completion of the suspended July 12 game vs. the RailRiders and a seven-inning game tonight, then a doubleheader on Thursday to make up a June 10 rainout on Thursday. Naturally, there’s a chance of rain for the next four days…
Harrisburg — OFF DAY
Harrisburg’s six-game homestand resumes with three against Reading, as they attempt to end a three-game skid that’s sliced their lead in the E.L. West to just a half game over Erie.
Carolina 5 Potomac 3
• Demny (L, 0-1) 3IP, 2H, 4R, 2ER, 3BB, 8K
• Dupra 3IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 6K
• Ramsey 3-5, R
• Taylor 2-4, R, HR, 2RBI, BB, 2SB
The P-Nats pitchers struck out 19, walked seven, but couldn’t overcome a critical three-run error in a 5-3 loss to Carolina. In the 2nd, starter Paul Demny sandwiched a pair of walks around back-to-back singles and a strikeout. Brandon Miller, who went 2-for-4, muffed a liner to the left-center gap for an error that emptied the bases and put Potomac into a 4-0 hole. Michael Taylor smacked a two-run HR in the 8th to cut the deficit to 4-2 but that’s as close as the P-Nats would get. Caleb Ramsey led the hit column with a 3-for-5 night, but Potomac hit into two double plays and stranded 10 men while outhitting Carolina 13-5.
Hagerstown 8 Lakewood 4
• Encarnacion (W, 8-7) 5IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER, BB, 6K, HR
• Harper (H, 8) 2IP, 0H, 0R, BB, K
• Severino 2-3, 2B, BB, 2RBI
• Martinez 2-4, R, 2RBI
• McQuillan 2-5, R, 2B, 2RB
Hagerstown’s second three-run outburst in the 7th turned a 5-4 game into the eventual 8-4 victory over Lakewood. Pedro Encarnacion broke a three-start winless streak but allowed all four Blue Claws runs on five hits, including a two-run blast by rehabbing Phillie Domonic Brown. He walked one and struck out six while earning his eighth win. Bryan Harper pitched two scoreless for his eighth hold while Gilberto Mendez worked out of a bases-loaded jam without a run scoring in the 9th for his seventh save. Six Suns had multiple hits, with Pedro Severino, Mike McQuillan, and Estarlin Martinez each driving in two runs while collecting two hits.
Auburn — OFF DAY
Auburn returns to Falcon Field after a 3-3 roadtrip for six games against Aberdeen and Connecticut before the All-Star break next Monday and Tuesday. Barring any injuries or promotions, the Doubledays will send just one player to Norwich, reliever David Napoli.
GCL Nationals 4 GCL Cardinals 3
• J. Rodriguez 5IP, 5H, R, ER, 0BB, 4K, HBP
• Suero (BS, 2; W, 5-1) 4IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 7K, HR, 3WP
• Jennings 2-3, R, SAC, CS
• Medina 2-4, 2R, CS
Wander Suero coughed up a two-run HR in the bottom of the 8th to blow a 3-1, but the G-Nats bailed him out with some small-ball in the 9th to take their ninth straight, 4-3 over the G-Cardinals. Willie Medina led off the 9th with single, took second on Hayden Jennings’s sacrifice, third on a grounder to the right side, and scored on Osvaldo Abreu’s two-out single, the 12th hit of the game for the G-Nats. Jefry Rodriguez started and gave up a run on five hits, no walks, and struck out four. Suero got the dreaded blown-save-win.
DSL Nationals 10 DSL Orioles2 0

Three pitchers combined for a four-hit shutout as the D-Nats blasted the D-Orioles2, 10-0 for their fourth straight win. Starter Deibi Yrizarri struck out seven and allowed just three hits and no walks over six innings for his fourth win. Aldrem Corredor went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored to lead the 13-hit parade, followed by Darryl Florentino at 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI.
