Pawtucket held Syracuse’s bats in check for 3-1 win that halted the Chiefs’ modest four-game win streak. Ross Ohlendorf got the last-minute rehab start and was tagged for a solo HR to leadoff batter Jackie Bradley Jr. The Princeton grad went three innings, allowed five hits, walked none and struck out four. Danny Espinosa and Tyler Moore combined for four hits, with the former scoring the lone Syracuse run, driven in by the latter on a double in the 6th.

An 8th-inning HR was the difference as Altoona edged Harrisburg, 5-4 to drop the Senators into a tie for 1st place in the E.L. West. Rick Perry served up the gamewinner, the fourth pitcher of the night as the bullpen was asked to pitch all nine with the move of Taylor Hill to Syracuse. Matt Swynenberg was charged with the first four, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out five. Justin Bloxom and Jason Martinson combined for three hits and three runs, with Martinson driving in two to pace the Harrisburg offense.

After taking 10 of the previous 11 from the Pelicans, the P-Nats were swept away in Myrtle Beach with a 6-2 loss. Starter Paul Demny went just three innings (again) and gave up a couple of runs (again) on three hits and three walks with but one strikeout. Brian Dupra took the loss, giving up four runs in the 7th and six hits total over three and 2/3rds. Brandon Miller extended his hit streak to 10 games with a 3-for-3 night, raising his Carolina League average to .471 (16-for-34) in eight games since his promotion.

The Suns broke open a 4-3 game with two in the 5th and two more in the 8th for an 8-3 win over the Legends that snapped a three-game skid. Pedro Encarnacion win his team-best 9th game with a six innings of three-run ball, allowing three hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Tony Renda and Estarlin Martinez both had two singles and an RBI to lead the 10-hit Hagerstown attack.

Three Auburn pitchers combined for 15 strikeouts in a 7-3 win over Connecticut. Austin Voth whiffed 10 in five and 2/3rds no-hit innings, but was charged with a run on two walks as he notched his first professional win. Mike Mudron struck out three of six batters faced while finishing the 6th and pitching the 7th while L.J. Hollins fanned two over the final two frames. Bryan Lippincott went 2-for-3 with a walk, a homer, two runs scored, and two RBIs as one of three Doubledays to get multiple hits on the night.

The D-Nats gave up three unearned runs while losing their fourth straight, a 3-1 loss to the D-Pirates2 squad. Starter Deibi Yrizarri allowed the first run on four hits and no walks while fanning three. Maximo Valerio gave up the second and got the “L” as he let up two hits in two innings without a walks and two strikeouts. Thomas Alvarez and Yermin Mercedes both went 2-for-4, with Alvarez scoring on Mercedes’s RBI single in the 1st.
