Eury Perez’s three-run triple broke open a 2-2 game as Syracuse held off Rochester for a 5-4 win to split the two-game series. Drew Storen got the start but hit his pitch limit, charged with two runs on four hits and no walks over an inning and 2/3rds (he was scheduled to go two). Ryan Tatusko was awarded the win but was not sharp, walking three and giving up two runs on four hits and three walks over an inning and a 1/3rd. Will Rhymes reached base three times while Jeff Kobernus, Jhonatan Solano, and Chris Marrero each had two hits as the Chiefs totaled eight hits and five walks on offense.

Three Binghamton pitchers combined to shut out Harrisburg on two hits and complete the three-game sweep with a 6-0 win. Starter Rob Gilliam took the loss, letting in five runs on six hits and two walks over six innings, including four in the 6th inning which began with a solo home run. He struck out seven. Billy Burns and Ricky Hague were both 1-for-3 with a single as the Senators had just one inning with multiple baserunners (the 9th) and left on five baserunners.

After a brief four-game homestand, it’s a trip down to North Carolina for three against the Mudcats and South Carolina for three against the Pelicans before returning home on Sunday for three more against Carolina, then three against the second-place (by nine games) Frederick Keys.

Kannapolis broke open a 1-0 game with three in the 7th and held off the Suns for a 4-3 win, snapping Hagerstown’s four-game win streak. Kylin Turnbull took the loss, his fourth, with two runs allowed on six hits and a walk over six and a 1/3rd. It was the second time this season the 23-y.o. southpaw had pitched into the 7th. Craig Manuel’s RBI single in the 7th and Khayyan Norfork’s two-run triple in the 8th pulled the Suns within one but Hagerstown went down in order in the 9th. Shawn Pleffner and Stephen Perez both went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Suns’ eight-hit attack.

Auburn opened up a 6-0 lead after four and cruised to a 13-4 win over Hudson Valley to complete the three-game sweep, their first of the season. Jake Johansen won his first game as a professional, scattering seven hits in five innings with one run and one walk allowed and two strikeouts. Leadoff man Isaac Ballou went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two of the team’s seven doubles as the Doubledays pounded out 17 hits total.

The G-Nats continue to steamroll the GCL East, as their latest win streak is eight games as they’ve run their record to a college basketball-like 32-6 and lead the G-Marlins by 15 games.
