Isaac Ballou Named NYPL Batter of the Week
Isaac Ballou has been named the New York-Penn League’s Batter of the Week for the week of July 29-August 4, the first Doubleday to win a weekly award this season.
Ballou, who is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak, went 12-for-24 with three doubles, three RBI while scoring eight runs and drawing four walks for a line of .500/.539/.577 for the week.
For the season, Ballou is hitting .307/.404/.405 with two HR and 15 RBI. He’s stolen six bases and scored 23 runs in 42 games for Auburn. He was drafted in the 15th round by the Nationals this past June out of the Marshall University, where he set career records for walks (129) and triples (16). The 23-y.o. native of Smithfield, Va. was also drafted in the 36th round by the Pirates in 2011 but did not sign.
