The Iron Pigs got the best of a pitcher’s duel, defeating the Chiefs 2-0. Danny Rosenbaum took the loss, giving up both Lehigh Valley runs on six hits and a walk while striking out four. The Chiefs were held to just five hits and two walks total, with Corey Brown (2-for-4) and Zach Walters the only two batters to reach base twice.

Four Hagerstown pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout to complete the sweep of West Virginia, 3-0. Ronald Pena got the start and gave up a hit over three innings, walking one and striking out one. Bryan Harper got the win with two hits allowed over the next three, Travis Henke pitched two scoreless for the hold and Derek Self retired the side 1-2-3 in the 9th for the save. Estarlin Martinez led the five-hit Suns offense with a 2-for-3 game, scoring a run, driving in a run, and drawing a walk.

When a position player is the most effective pitcher, you know it’s been a bad night. Batavia took advantage of 11 base-on-balls to score 12 times on just seven hits in a 12-2 decimation of Auburn. Joel Barrientos walked six in his four and a 1/3rd inning, giving up the first four runs on three hits, including a home run. The Doubledays collected eight hits, led by Bryan Lippincott who singled and doubled and drove in a run.

The G-Cards scored 16 unanswered runs as they overcame an early 3-2 deficit to pulverize the G-Nats, 18-3. Lucas Giolito made his first post-surgery appearance but retired just one (strikeout) of five batters faced, giving up two runs (one earned) on a hit and two walks. David Ramos took the loss with six runs charged to him over an inning and 2/3rds on three hits and two walks. Raudy Read went 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead the hit column as the G-Nats managed just seven hits and two walks.
