Four Syracuse pitchers combined on a six-hit shutout, blanking Rochester for the second straight game, 2-0. Caleb Clay finally got his first AAA win, giving up three hits and three walks while striking out three over six innings. Mike Crotta got the last four outs, stranding a batter in the 8th and working around a hit in the 9th for his second save. Zach Walters led the Chiefs’ offense with a single, double, and an RBI.

Bowie’s Eddie Gamboa tossed a seven-inning no-hitter as Bowie shut out Harrisburg, 7-0. Paul Demny couldn’t make it out of the 1st, as he walked in a run and gave up a grand slam, charged with six runs total on three hits and four walks with two batters retired. Gamboa walked three and struck out five, with Jason Martinson the sole Senator to reach base twice.
Bowie vs. Harrisburg — PPD
As alluded in yesterday’s news & notes, the decision to gamble that the weather would hold backfired on the BaySox as the second game was rained out. There was no announcement regarding if/when it will be made up. Harrisburg is not scheduled to visit Bowie again this season.
Wilmington vs. Potomac — PPD
For the second time this weekend, the P-Nats were rained out, forcing this one to be rescheduled tentatively to Sunday, August 18th as part of a doubleheader.

Dixon Anderson lost for the third time in four starts as the Legends pummeled the Suns, 11-1 in the continuation from Saturday night. Anderson was charged with five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk. He struck out three. Lexington limited Hagerstown to just four hits, with Will Piwinica-Worms the sole multi-hit Sun at 2-for-4 with a stolen base while Tony Renda doubled and scored the only run.

Brett Mooneyham pitched six shutout innings and outdueled Lexington’s Miguel Almonte for a 2-1 win in the nightcap. Mooneyham gave up five hits and a walk whike striking out two to get his fourth win. Gilberto Mendez coughed up a leadoff homer in the 7th but finished the game for the save. Four of the five Suns hits came in the second as Estarlin Martinez and Wes Schill got on board with one-out singles while Craig Manuel and Narciso Mesa sent ’em in with two-out RBI singles. All four batters went 1-for-2 for the game.

Auburn battled back from an early 5-2 deficit to send this one into extras but fell in the 12th, 6-5. Starter Deion Williams was roughed up for five runs on five hits in just an inning and 2/3rds. Silvio Medina took the loss when a walk, steal, and a two-out single plated the gamewinner. James Yezzo and Jean Valdez continue to blister the NYPL, combining to go 7-for-11 and drive in three of the five Doubledays runs.

The G-Nats have lost but once in their first eight games, building a three-game lead in the GCL East over the G-Marlins as they enter Week 3 of 11.
