The long ball couldn’t carry the night as Toledo edged Syracuse, 7-6. Zach Walters and Tyler Moore each went deep with a man on in the 4th as the Chiefs scored four to even the game at… wait for it… 4-4. Walters hit a solo shot in the 7th to give Syracuse a brief 5-4 lead. Tabbed as “Good” in the Friday GBI, Tanner Roark wasn’t in the 8th, giving up two runs to end his streak without giving up an unearned run at 26⅓ innings and take the loss. Starter Matt Torra went the first six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk while setting down five on strikes.

Harrisburg 4 New Britain 1

The Senators jumped out to a 3-0 lead early and cruised to a 4-1 win over the Rock Cats. Caleb Clay won for the sixth time, turning in seven strong innings with just a run on four hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts. A pair of relievers split the 8th while Aaron Barrett locked it down with a scoreless 9th for his 11th save. Jeff Howell doubled and homered and scored twice to lead the Harrisburg offense.

Potomac 4 Frederick 0 — GAME ONE

Taylor Hill just owns the Keys. The 24-y.o. turned in his second seven-inning, complete-game shutout of the season as Potomac blanked Frederick, 4-0 in the opener. Hill has compiled 20 scoreless innings against the Keys, 13 in his last two starts. He allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out four. The P-Nats scored all four runs in the 4th, highlighted by a two-run single by newcomer Mike Gilmartin. Randolph Oduber led the charge with a 2-for-3 game, scoring a run and driving in a run.

Frederick 9 Potomac 4 — GAME TWO

Spot starter Hector Silvestre was done in by four walks and an untimely error in the nightcap, which saw the P-Nats lose to the Keys, 9-4. The 20-y.o., who will likely be reassigned to the GCL or Auburn, gave up two hits and five runs over three and 2/3rds innings. The lone earned run he gave up was on a solo HR in the 1st. Justin Miller went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI in the loss. Roster moves: LHP Hector Silvestre assigned from XST.

Lakewood scored nine unanswered runs — three in each of the last three innings — as they pushed Hagerstown to the brink of elimination with an 11-5 loss. Newly acquired reliever Ian Dickson gave up the first three for the blown save, while Bryan Harper was charged with the last six to take the loss. Starter Nick Lee gave up two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three for the no-decision. Khayyan Norfork led the Suns offense with a home run and two runs scored while going 2-for-4. The loss dropped the Suns tragic number to one with three games to play, as Hickory lost to Delmarva.
Roster moves: LHP Christian Meza reassigned to Auburn Doubledays; RHP Wander Suero reassigned from XST.

The D-Nats took advantage of ten walks issued by the D-Rojos in an 8-6 win. Luis Reyes went six innings and let in three runs on four hits on two walks to earn the win. He struck out three. Melvi Salazar set ’em down in order in the 9th for his second save. Darryl Florentino went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI to pace the seven-hit attack.
