Norfolk 8 Syracuse 7 (10 inn.)
• Rosenbaum 4⅔ IP, 10H, 7R, 6ER, 3BB, 5K, WP
• Mandel 2⅓ IP, 2H, 0R, BB, K, 2-0 IR-S
• Davis (L, 0-1) 1IP, H, R, ER, 0BB, 2K, HR

• Rhymes 2-5, R, 2B
• Kobernus 2-5, 2R, SB(15)

After rallying from deficits of 4-1 and 7-5, Syracuse fell victim to the dreaded two-out solo shot in the 10th to fall in extras 8-7 for their third straight loss to Norfolk. Starter Danny Rosenbaum was battered for seven runs on ten hits and three walks over four and 2/3rds. Jeff Mandel, who was blasted for six runs less than 24 hours before, stemmed the Tide with two stranded runners in the 5th and two more scoreless to enable the second comeback. Frequent flier Jeff Howell homered with one out in the 9th to send the game into extras while Mike Constanzo, Will Rhymes, and Jeff Kobernus accounted for six of the Chiefs’ 11 hits. Roster moves: C Carlos Maldonado placed on 7-Day DL, C Jeff Howell assigned from Harrisburg

Richmond 4 Harrisburg 0
• Treinen (L, 3-4) 6IP, 8H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 7K
• Krol 2IP, 2H, 0R, BB, 4K
• Goodwin 1-4, BB, CS, 2K
• Bloxom 0-1, 3BB

Three Richmond pitchers combined on a four-hit, 4-0 shutout in Harrisburg. Blake Treinen took the loss and gave up all four Flying Squirrels runs on eight hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Ian Krol and Bill Bray combined for three scoreless innings in relief. The Senators drew seven walks — three by Justin Bloxom — but were held to just four singles and advanced only four men into scoring position, stranding 11 baserunners. C Craig Manuel activated from XST and assigned to Harrisburg to replace C Jeff Howell.

Winston-Salem 7 Potomac 0
• Ray (L, 3-2) 3IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 9K
• Bates 2IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Dykstra 2-3, BB
• Miller 1-3

The air was cold and so was the lineup Last Night In Woodbridge.

Hagerstown 9 Greensboro 4
• Encarnacion (W, 3-2) 5IP, 8H, 3R, 1ER, 2BB, 4K
• Hudgins 2IP, 0H, 0R, 3BB, K
• Norfork 3-5, R, 2B, 2RBI
• Renda 2-5, R, 2B, RBI
• Schill 2-5, R, 2RBI

Obviously, everyone was much warmer in Greensboro, if for no other reason than nine Suns circled the bases in a 9-4 rout of Greensboro. Pedro Encarnacion earned his third win with three runs allowed (one earned) on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Khayyan Norfork to blister the ball, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI (6-for-11 since his return from Potomac) while Tony Renda and Wes Schill both went 2-for-5 in the 11-hit attack.
