Zach Duke became the farm’s first 10-game winner as the Chiefs shut out the Bison, 5-0. Duke gave up four hits and walked five but also struck out five over the first six frames. Pat Lehman and Christian Garcia locked it down with three scoreless innings combined to earn the hold (#5) and the save (#3) respectively. Brett Carroll’s two-run double highlighted a three-run 8th that turned the game from a nail-biter to a comfortable win, with Jim Negrych pacing the Syracuse offense with a single, walk, and a solo HR.

The Senators blew a 4-0 lead but rallied with two in the 9th and held on for a 7-6 win in Bowie. Danny Rosenbaum’s struggles continue as the 24-y.o. southpaw was touched for five runs on five hits and three walks over six innings. Pat McCoy got the win while striking out the side in the 8th and Hector Nelo got the save despite coughing up a run on two two-out hits in the 9th. Sean Nicol and Sandy Leon combined to go 4-for-8 with four RBI while Chris Rahl tied Tim Pahuta for the team lead in HRs with #10.

Hagerstown rallied for two in the last of the 8th for a 3-2 win over Lexington. In a planned maneuver, Alex Meyer threw just two scoreless innings (presumably because he’ll be pitching in Sunday’s Futures Game) while Christian Meza went the next four, also scoreless. Matt Skole led off the 8th with his 19th HR to tie the game at 2-2 in the 8th while Sam Palace’s RBI groundout provided the margin of victory. Recently promoted Richie Mirowski got the win despite giving up both Legends runs while Aaron Barrett notched his 13th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Pedro Encarnacion weathered an ugly first inning to get his second win as Auburn scored 11 unanswered runs for an 11-5 win vs. Lowell. A pair of errors and a pair of walks helped set up the big inning for the Spinners, with Seth Schwindenhammer’s grand slam capping off the rally, with all five runs being unearned. Auburn put up four big innings, taking advantage of six (6) Lowell errors to score 11 runs on 11 hits. Shawn Pleffner led the Doubledays with two singles and a double while driving in two.

Adalberto Mieses got the start and went the first four innings, giving up all three G-Marlins runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out four. Joel Barrientos got the win in relief, allowing just a hit and two walks over three and 2/3rds with four strikeouts. Kevin DiCharry got the last four outs, working around a two-out single in the 9th to record the save. Will Piwnica-Worms led the G-Nats offense with a single, double, and two walks.

Starter Jefry Rodriguez went the first five, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and five walks while striking out four. Raudy Read and Juan De Los Santos both went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the D-Nats stranded 12 runners while going 4-for-16 with RISP.
