The Chiefs dug themselves out of a 7-0 hole, but ultimately fell, 9-8 in 14 innings. Starter Mitch Atkins gave up seven runs on seven hits, including a three-run HR in the six-run 2nd. Jeff Mandel, the sixth Syracuse pitcher of the night, suffered the loss with a run given up in his fourth inning of work. Jesus Valdez smacked a grand slam to highlight the offense, which rapped out 12 hits and emptied the bench, forcing manager Tony Beasley to play Tanner Roark in LF and Mark Teahen in CF when Corey Brown was ejected in the 13th.

Kevin Pucetas got the start and retired the first seven batters before leaving with “discomfort in his lower right leg,” according to the Patriot-News. Starter Chris McKenzie was knocked out after two and 2/3rds with six runs on four hits and six walks. Greg Holt got the win in relief with an unearned run allowed on a hit and two walks over three innings while Ben Hawkins worked around three baserunners in the 9th for his first save. The trio of Brett Newsome, Cutter Dykstra and Caleb Ramsey each went 2-for-5, combining for five runs, three doubles, and six RBI. The Suns third baseman hit his 20th HR and notched his 71st RBI.

Starter David Fischer went four hitless and scoreless frames in his first start, giving up a walk while striking out two. Jason Peters got the win in relief, allowing a run on two hits over three innings. Craig Manuel led the 11-hit attack with three singles, followed closely by Stephen Perez and Jordan Poole, who both singled twice.

The G-Nats were held to just four hits and six walks, with Mike McQuillan and Matt Foat both reaching base twice (single, walk).

Make that three straight losses for the D-Nats, as the D-Mets1 squad handed them a 12-1 beatdown for their third straight loss. The 16-y.o. Maximo Valerio took his fourth loss, giving up four runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks over five innings. The D-Nats were limited to just three hits, with Andres Martinez and Jorge Tillero both going 1-for-3.
