Roark gave up seven hits and walked two while striking out five, but suffered his team-leading 8th loss. Seth Bynum led the Chiefs attack with singling twice and walking in four plate appearances. In duel between the teams’ aces, Zach Wheeler bested Danny Rosenbaum, allowing just two IF hits over seven innings as the B-Mets beat the Sens, 4-1. Rosenbaum also went seven frames, but gave up all four runs on eight hits while striking out seven. Jeremy Mayo came off the bench as Beau Seabury became the latest catcher to suffer an injury (elbow) and went 1-for-2 in his 2012 and AA debut. Roster moves: RHP Cameron Selik was placed on the DL. Mayo was assigned from XST. RHP Zech Zinicola was activated from the restricted list and assigned from Syracuse.

After tying the game at 2-2 in the 6th, the P-Nats allowed four unanswered runs while mustering just two baserunners over the last three innings as the Keys took the game, 6-2, and the series, 3-2. Pitchers Adam Olbrychowski and Ryan Demmin gave up three HRs (all solo) on the night, working around three errors and three walks. Zach Walters led the offense with a 3-for-4 game, but the team left on nine, including three in the 4th when the P-Nats loaded the bases with no outs and couldn’t score. Potomac heads home for its final homestand of the 1st half, a five-game, two doubleheader weekend series against the Salem Red Sox.

A trio of two-spots helped Hagerstown build a 6-1 lead while the bullpen gave up two home runs late in a 6-5 win over Kannapolis, completing the three-game sweep. Alex Meyer turned in his third quality start with three runs (two earned) given up over six innings to notch his fifth win. Jason Martinson and Cole Leonida both homered, while rehabbing Chris Marrero went 1-for-3 with a double, as the Suns scored six runs on just seven hits. The two teams meet again for another three-game set starting tonight in Kannapolis.

When the most effective pitcher is a position player, you know it’s been a bad game. A five-run 6th broke open a 2-1 game as the DSL Giants beat the DSL Nationals, 10-4. Starter Anderson Martinez allowed just a hit over four innings, but walked four and struck out seven. NYC native Kevin Cerda went 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run to lead the offense.
