Transactions Update
Still waiting for the official word on Danny Rosenbaum’s promotion, ahem, reassignment, but noticed the following moves in the meantime…
SYRACUSE
• OF Michael Aubrey placed on 7-Day DL
• LHP Tom Milone placed on 7-Day DL
• Activated OF Roger Bernadina
• Activated RHP Brad Meyers from 7-Day DL
• Assigned Evan Bronson from Potomac
• Optioned Atahualpa Severino from Washington
• Recalled Collin Balester to Washington
HAGERSTOWN
• Assigned C Adrian Nieto from Potomac
These are all dated today on MiLB.com, and I strongly suspect that at least one, if not both, of the two players put on the DL have been placed there retroactively.
Just to recap, the following moves were made over the weekend…
• RHP Yunesky Maya recalled to Washington, optioned back
• LHP Atahualpa Severino recalled to Washington
• IF/OF Brian Bixler recalled to Washington
• Roger Bernadina optioned to Syracuse
• Garrett Mock assigned from Harrisburg
• RHP Chien-Mien Wang activated from 60-Day DL
In case anyone ever wondered, this is not unlike court reporting in a small town… a lot of reading between the lines and being unable to make a definitive statement, even when you *know* what’s really going on.
UPDATE #1: A couple more moves made overnight…
Looks like McGreary is doing his rehab starts.
Is Tommy really hurt or is this to make room for another illustrious pitching prospect?
I don’t think it’s either of those scenarios.
Hmmm… A 7-DL retroactive to the 29th would put Milone active no earlier than August 5th, placing him in sync with JZimm – that makes sense. The fog is lifting, I think.
They calimed like Bisept soreness or something like that
That’s a lot of players shuffling in & out of Syracuse over the last 72 hours; Hard to read the tea leaves at this point.
Think Bronson will get a shot at the AFL?
Also is Milone hurt, or is this just a way to give him a start off.
Anyone else can go as they please, but Milone is all we got for good pitching. Little off topic, but someone said a while ago that Tim Foli was out of the game and in bad health. I was a big fan of his 2 years ago in Syracuse and was wondering what is wrong with him? He was a good manager who put up with zero B.S.. Something we know little about in Syracuse this year.
Hey Don, have you had a chance to see Severino pitch. Anyone can answer but what kind of stuff does he have, and is he a sidearm guy. I need to know these things before I start the Severino Fan Club.
Don, you sound like a local fan, and you have my sympathy. SYR has seen a suprising amount of roster churn this season from their pitching staff (28 different pitchers with SYR appearances as of 07/31/11).
Those kind of numbers can easily lead to a lost season, as there is little consistency to fall back on.
Severino is not worth a fan club 🙂 Is is good when he is good and other times he seems like he is getting paid by the amount of hits he gives up.
Yes it is a long season after being promised a winner and being so close the last two years. 28 pitchers and an airhead for a manager are a lethal combo for winning.
