Seth Bynum’s two-run HR in the bottom of the 7th broke a 1-1 tie as Syracuse defeated Pawtucket, 3-1. Tom Milone got his 11th win with seven strong innings, allowing a run on solo HR, walking one and striking out eight. The Chiefs are now 60-68 in the I.L. North, leading the 5th place Bisons by 4½ games.

The Sens broke out the bats in the 8th for a five-run rally that put this one away as they downed the SeaDogs, 9-3. Chris Rahl, Tyler Moore and Tim Pahuta all homered, with Rahl leading the 12-hit attack with a 3-for-4 afternoon. Jimmy Barthmaier got the win in relief of Oliver Perez, who didn’t go the requisite five innings. The win keeps pace with Bowie, maintaining the Harrisburg lead at 1½ games in the E.L. West.

Potomac put up another 11-spot against Wilmington, including a pair of four-run rallies in the 6th and 7th innings, to smash the Blue Rocks, 11-3. Zach Walters and Jose Lozada both went 3-for-4 as the P-Nats pounded out 15 hits in support of starter and winning pitcher Evan Bronson, who turned in seven innings and allowed the three Wilmington runs on five hits and a walk. The win keeps pace with Frederick and Lynchburg, as Potomac trails the Keys by 3½ but leads the Hillcats by five in the C.L. North.

A four-run 5th by Hickory turned a 2-1 Suns lead into the eventual 5-4 loss for Hagerstown. A.J. Cole allowed all five runs on six hits and a walk over four and a 1/3rd innings to get tagged with his seventh loss. The Suns were held to just seven hits, with Adrian Sanchez singling twice, Wade Moore doubling for an RBI, and Kevin Keyes connecting for HR #15. The loss drops Hagerstown to four games back, and reduces its elimination number to eight.

Hendry Jimenez’s RBI single in the top of the 10th broke a 5-5 tie as the Doubledays came back from a 5-1 deficit for a 6-5 win against Mahoning Valley. Wirkin Estevez got hit hard, giving up two home runs and eight hits total over three and a 1/3rd innings. Chris Jenkins, Colin Bates, and Aaron Barrett combined to shut down the Scrappers for the final six and 2/3rds innings. The win combined with a Williamsport loss extended Auburn’s lead to 2½ games in the Pickney Division in the NYPL.

The G-Nats scored a season-high 13 runs, including a seven-run 7th to send the G-Mets to a 13-2 defeat. Five G-Nats had multiple hits, with Wes Schill, Randolph Oduber, and Wilmer Difo each collecting three in a 16-hit onslaught. Pedro Encarnacion got the win with a run on two walks and two hits over five innings. The G-Nats are now 20-32 with three games remaining in the 2011 campaign.
