Catching Up On Transactions

July 6, 2011

Just a quick catch-up on the recent transactions in the minors… many were tweeted yesterday:

SYRACUSE
P Brad Meyers placed on 7-Day DL retroactive to July 1
P Carlos Martinez assigned from Harrisburg
P Ross Detwiler called up to Washington

HARRISBURG
OF Bryce Harper assigned from Hagerstown

POTOMAC
P Sammy Solis assigned from Hagerstown
IF Justino Cuevas placed on 7-Day DL
IF Jose Lozada activated from 7-Day DL

HAGERSTOWN
P Matt Swynenberg activated from 7-Day DL
OF Chris Curran assigned from Potomac

AUBURN
C Jeremy Mayo assigned from GCL
P Christian Meza assigned from GCL

GCL
P Pedro Encarnacio assigned from Auburn
P Patrick Arnold assigned (on Hagerstown 7-Day DL)

Before folks get their panties in a bunch about Meyers, this is a less-opaque paper move related to the placing of Collin Balester on optional waivers. Likewise, I expect Carlos Martinez to return to Harrisburg once the merry-go-round stops later this week.

UPDATE: As predicted, Martinez’s stay was brief. The Harrisburg Senators have announced the following:
“RHP Carlos Martinez has been transferred from Syracuse to Harrisburg and RHP Tanner Roark has been placed on the temporary inactive list.”

Glad to see you and “the other SD” back online. You provide a much needed service to NATS’ fans in a very entertaining fashion.

How’s about promoting some of the other deserving players from Hagerstown like Kelso and Freitas.

Damn, Meyers hurt agian, and Carlos Martinez to AAA, WTF he has sucked so far this year. At least give someone like Martin VanAllen a chance at the next level

No, Meyers isn’t hurt: this is him being shelved just long enough for the waivers to go through and not miss a start. Martinez was called up just to be an arm in the bullpen until Balester is available.

I guess this question is aprop under this posting. Its that time of year again … time for Scott ‘Boras’ and his Crypt Kicker Five to do the Monster Mash.

Will Boras demand that all four of his clients: Rendon, Meyer, Goodwin, and Purke be placed on the 40-man. Or maybe just Rendon? But given Rendon’s injury history is that a leg he can stand on?

Bill “The Godfather” Rhinehart (never called him that before. Thanks, Sue) wins EAL player of the week. Bill was also named to the Western Division roster for the 2011 Northeast Delta Dental Eastern League All-Star Game, also known as the NEDDELASG-WD.

Has there been any announcements with regards to international signings?

    1. Sue Dinem says:

Only the big-dollar signings, of which the Nats have not made any and were not expected to, either.

Giving Knorr the night off from bashing since his off field problems yesterday, I respect that. Martinez on the other hand f****** sucks. How the hell did that guy get a pro contract? I hope you’re right about him not being here for long.

I am. Updating this post now…

So with the update & the assumed demotion of Balester, the top teams are more or less back in balance. 24+1 rehab (Gaudin) at SYR, 24 at HAR, 25+1 rehab (C-M Wang) in POT, but only 24/25 in HAG by my count.

Wondering if our guys in Hagerstown has any info on the status for either Oduber or Bobby Hansen?
