For the second time this season, the Syracuse Chiefs lost on a walkoff wild pitch, as Iron Pigs’s Cory Sullivan doubled, moved to 2nd, and then scored on a Matt Chico wild pitch. Both losses were charged to Chico. The loss quickly reversed the momentum that had started when the Chiefs rallied in the 8th inning to tie the game at 3-3, thanks to doubles by Jeff Frazier and Chris Marreno. Starting Craig Stammen pitched well, allowing just three hits and one run in five innings, while walking only one and striking out three.
New Britain 0 Harrisburg 0 – Suspended (2nd inning)
The game against the Rock Cats was suspended in the 2nd inning due to field conditions. It will be made up today, beginning at 5 p.m., with the first game a nine-inning completion and the second game a seven-inning affair. In a common minor-league maneuver with the threat of rain, Henry Rodriguez started the game and pitched the top of the first inning. Unfortunately, Erik Davis warmed up to start the second and will likely be skipped in favor of Brad Peacock, with Jimmy Barthmaier and Erik Arnesen the two most likely pitchers in the nightcap. Derek Norris was injured running out a groundball, turning his right ankle on the bag according to eyewitnesses.
