It was a close game between the Syracuse Chiefs and Lehigh Valley as for the second game in a row, the Chiefs game was decided in extra innings. But this time, they won, thanks to a Boomer Whiting walk and a throwing error followed by a Jeff Frazier RBI single. Lehigh Valley tried to battle in the bottom of the inning as Jeff Larish was able to get double off of Cole Kimball, but the runner was stranded at second base. While the Chiefs bats were cold, going 0-for-15 with RISP, and leaving 13 runners on base, pitching was at a premium as starting pitcher Garrett Mock, pitched 5 and 2/3 innings allowing only one run on three hits and three walks, while striking out six and Kimball earned his first save of the season, pitching the 10th inning, allowing just the one hit while striking out two.

The Baysox got on the board early, scoring 2 runs in the first inning off of Senators starter Ryan Tatusko, who lasted four innings allowing two earned runs on 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Unfortunately, the Sens just weren’t able to execute offensively, going 0-for-8 with RISP and leaving 9 players on base. The upside to the game was that four Harrisburg relievers collectively pitched five strong innings, allowing no runs on three hits and four walks, while striking out eight.

Another pitcher’s duel, another win for the Suns. David Freitas homered and Blake Kelso doubled in another for the first two runs in the fifth while Bryce Harper’s RBI groundout in the sixth proved to be the gamewinner. Four Hagerstown pitchers combined on a five-hitter, with starter Chris McKenzie getting the win, Steve McCatty got the hold, and Ben Graham got the save.
