Martis Activated, Coats to DL, Selik and Peacock named Pitchers of the Week
Martis is back, Coats is on DL, Selik and Peacock win POTW honors
The Harrisburg Senators announced this afternoon that RHP Shairon Martis has been assigned from XST to Harrisburg, taking the place of Buck Coats, who was placed on the DL. Martis will be starting tonight’s game against Altoona, with Erik Davis expected tomorrow, and Ryan Tatusko slated for Wednesday.
Earlier today, the Hagerstown Suns’ Cameron Selik and Harrisburg’s Brad Peacock were named pitcher of the week for the South Atlantic League and Eastern League respectively. Selik, who will be starting tonight against the West Virginia Power, got the nod with his five shutout innings with 11Ks last Monday. Peacock’s nine-strikeout, seven and 1/3rd innings shutout innings this past Friday led to the award.
Looks like pitching is definately our forté this year – can never have enough! Spaking of which, any news on the status/assignments of Cole, Solis and Ray?
The company line still appears to be: Solis recovering from a groin injury (no ETA given), Cole & Ray likely to start at Auburn (June 17 OD).
Tug Hulett?
Tug Hulett already played in 2 games for the Chiefs. I think they filled in the blank IF on the Big Board where Bixler used to be?
Boy, Peacock is just a terrific story that keeps getting better.
I’ve seen two interviews with Selik and they’re both of the airhead variety. I’d like to know what the Nats saw in him to turn him into a starter after being an anonymous college middle inning reliever. He’s definitely ready for the next level.
I can tell you from his tweets that Ryan Tatusko appears to think Selik’s the man.
