Syracuse was the first to get on the board and the last to get on the board as the Chiefs beat Leigh Valley in walkoff fashion by a score of 3-2 in their first home game. Adam Carr took the win with two innings of relief, allowing only one hit and one walk. Starting pitcher Yunesky Maya, took the no decision, going 5 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five. While the team only hit 2-for-11 with RISP, key hits made a difference in the game. Maldonado was seeing the ball well, going 2-4 with two doubles and a run scored, and both Brown and Bixler combined to go 2-7, with two RBI and two walks.

Once again, thanks to an early lead, the Chiefs were able to settle down and sweep the double header by taking game two against Lehigh Valley by a score of 4-1. Starting pitcher Ross Detwiler got the win, pitching six complete innings, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out four. Bernadina was the hero of the game, starting the game with a single and scoring on a Chris Marrero single, then launching a 2-run homerun in the third.

Harrisburg broke open a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth and held on for a 4-2 win, thanks to a game-saving catch by Jonathan Tucker to end it. Tyler Moore and Steve Lombardozzi each had two hits as the Sens broke a three-game losing streak. Erik Davis returned on two days’ rest from his rained-out start on Monday (⅓ IP) to pitch four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six. Cory VanAllen got the win in relief with three solid innings of work, spoiled by a solo shot in the sixth but striking out four.

The 19-year-old Tanner Bushue was sensational in his professional debut, retiring the first seven batters he faced and holding the Hagerstown Suns to just five hits over eight innings as the Lexington Legends won 7-0 to split the four-game series. Suns starter Matt Grace was peppered for two runs on four hits in the first and tagged for four runs, including two home runs in the fourth to take the loss. Jason Martinson paced the offense with two of the five hits while Bryce Harper went 1-for-3 with a walk and a double but was picked off third by Bushue.
