Catching Up On Transactions
Here's a rundown of player movement from the past week or so.
Having been on vacation in Tennessee the past week, I’m still wading through the detritus of unattended e-mail and RSS feeds. Also lost in the shuffle, has been a whole bunch of transactions, the past week of which I’ll try to summarize for folks:

Thanks Sue: As I said earlier, bodies flying all over the system. Maybe the Nationals will give Brian a ‘nice parting gift’, and promote Wilkie once the season ends for Syracuse.
@BinM
WilkieMania would be awesome. Need to look at the 40-man a bit to try to get a sense of possible additional callups. We know Maya will likely be one. Wonder if the El Duque departure was related to Rizzo’s desire to make Chuck James a potential veteran reliever callup from Harrisburg over El Duque. James has certainly done a better job over a longer period of time and has more potential long term value.
Guys, I’ve been thinking that Wilkie won’t get called up because of Rule 5 issues. Then again, I thought that might be why they wouldn’t call up Espinosa. This will be the first time since they moved from Montreal that there’s going to be some sweating come Rule 5 draft time in the F.O.
Sue, thanks for the needed clarity on what’s going on. It’s looking more and more that you’re going to get your wish on ‘age appropriate’ players at Potomac next year. Especially the outfield, with Macus Jones, Eury Perez, and Destin Hood stating there next year. Plus, Randolph Oduber doesn’t figure to stay in Hagerstown (he says hopefully) very long in ’10.
Eury Perez’s stats at Hagerstown are eye-popping, and a rocket arm to boot.
@Mark L
How much have you seen of Perez? I’ve only seen him once at Hagerstown and I wasn’t aware that his arm was that strong. I’ve always thought of him as a Nyjer Morgan/Juan Pierre type and I didn’t realize his arm was decent.
I watched Eury all year…I think of him more like a softball slap hitter. He just manages to get on base anyway he can and then steals his way around. Not too sure about his fielding; I like JP better.
Sue, what’s your DM? (or you can just DM me.) I have a quick question for you that’s better asked offline.
