Syracuse Chiefs — OFF DAY
Notes: The Chiefs go home-and-home with the Rochester Redwings for the next four games. They trail first-place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by 8½ games in the North Division and are 4½ games off the pace for the Wild Card race.

Notes: This game remained scoreless through three innings until Binghamton broke the ice with one run in the bottom of the 4th. Binghamton then added one more in the 5th and another run in the 6th to make it 3-1. All three B-Mets runs came on solo HRs. But then Harrisburg started their comeback, pulling to within one with a run in the 7th and then tying it in the 8th. With no runs scored in the 9th this game was off to extras. In the extra frame, Danny Espinosa went deep for the third time on the night, hitting a two-run shot to give the Senators their winning margin of 5-3. Starter Andrew Kown went six innings giving up seven hits, three runs and six strikeouts but got the no-decision. Chuck James pitched three perfect innings for the win, while Cole Kimball struck out the side in the bottom of the 10th to earn his third AA save.
Potomac 8, Lynchburg 2 — SUSPENDED
Notes: Violent thunderstorms in the area forced this game to be suspended after two complete innings, with Potomac leading 8-2 on a 10-hit barrage that saw them score four runs in each of the first two innings. Play will be resumed next week when Lynchburg visits Potomac for a three-game series in Woodbridge.

Notes: Rehabbing Garrett Mock when three strong innings for Hagerstown, allowing just one hit and one walk over three scoreless innings. He also struck out three. Three Suns pitchers followed and combined with Mock to pitch the Suns to a 2-0 shutout against the Lexington Legends. The scoring came very early, with Hagerstown getting its two runs in the bottom of the 1st on a double by Rick Hague, an RBI single by J.P. Ramirez and two Legends’ errors. Recently promoted GCL standout Adrian Sanchez made his Low-A debut, going 1-for-4.

Notes: Vermont began the scoring with a run in the bottom of the 4th but that seemed to be all that was going in their favor. Auburn struck back with three runs in the 5th and one more in the 6th to make it 4-1. In the 8th Auburn continued their onslaught with two more runs in the 8th, while the Lake Monsters tried for a comeback in the 9th with 2 runs but fell short as they lost 6-3. Notes: A 16-2 thrashing of the GCL Marlins only dulls the sting of a team that sports the league’s worst record at 14-22 and has an elimination number of 12 with 20 dates left on the schedule.

Notes: A (presumably) rain-shortened 4-1 win gave the DSL Nationals back-to-back wins in consecutive days for the first time since July 13-14. Sources say that if they win tomorrow, that will be known as a winning streak, which has happened before. A three-run first inning gave the D-Nats all the runs they would need, as starting pitcher Wander Suero went five innings and allowed just one run on five hits and three walks while striking out seven.
