Notes: Louisville started the scoring in the bottom of 1st with three runs, while Syracuse answered with two runs in the 4th. In the bottom of the 4th Louisville scored two more and added an additional two runs in the 5th making it 7-2. In the 6th Syracuse chipped away at the lead with one run, but Louisville didn’t let up as they scored one of their own in the bottom of the inning. Syracuse could only add two more runs in the 8th and 9th but ran out of time as they lost 8-5. Starter Shairon Martis went 4⅓ innings giving up nine hits, seven runs and two strikeout along with 5 strikeouts with the loss.

Notes: Mike Burgess made the most of his AA debut, going 2-for-4 with two solo HRs to help the Sens build a 3-0 lead through seven innings. Unfortunately, the Senators bullpen could not keep the shutout going, allowing one run in the 8th, two runs in the 9th and the winning run in the 10th. The implosion ruined a fine outing by starter Brad Peacock who went seven scoreless innings, giving up only one hit, three walks while registering eight strikeouts.

Notes: Tuesday’s offensive futility continued in the first game as the P-Nats managed just three hits, with Derek Norris’s solo HR preventing the shutout. Starter Danny Rosenbaum went five innings and allowed all three Indian runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out five.

Notes: Francisco Soriano’s solo HR to lead off the 1st gave Potomac faint hopes that a split was possible, but four runs in the bottom of the inning dashed those hopes as the Kinston Indians went on to win 5-3, sweeping the doubleheader. Starter Pat Lehman gave up all five Kinston runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three. The two losses shaved Potomac’s lead over second-place Wilmington to just one game. Rather than promote or demote, Washington replaced Mike Burgess on the roster with former Blue Rock Jamar Walton, a 24-year-old OF who was originally drafted by Florida in 2004.
Hagerstown Suns W, 8-6 @ Delmarva

Notes: The Suns began the scoring in the 4th with five runs, Delmarva kept the game close with three runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th. But Hagerstown didn’t want Delmarva to gain anymore ground as they scored two more in the 6th and another run in the 7th making it 8-3. Delmarva could only counter with three more runs in the bottom of the 7th but fell short in the end as Hagerstown took this one 8-6. Starter Evan Bronson went 6⅓ innings, giving up six hits, five runs and no walks with one strikeout for the win. Josh Smoker pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his first career save.
Vermont Lake Monsters — OFF DAY
Notes: Vermont had another day off today to prepare for their 2 games versus Lowell this week. Meanwhile, at the New York-Penn League All-Star game, David Freitas and Blake Kelso both started but were hitless in two at-bats while Neil Holland hit two batters and struck out two batters while pitching a scoreless inning.

Notes: Robert Perez’s 10th-inning double broke an 8-8 tie as the GCL Nationals went on to defeat the GCL Astros by a score of 10-8. Yuniesky Maya’s second start was not quite as smooth as the 29-year-old Cuban defector gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks over four innings.
Hitters of the game Angel Montilla, Perez, and Rashad Hatcher would account for seven of the 12 G-Nats hits and six RBI. Timothy Dupuis got the win in relief with three prefect innings and six strikeouts.

Notes: In a repeat of last week, the two teams were scheduled to have a doubleheader but were only able to get one game played, which the DSL Nationals won 7-6 in walkoff fashion in the bottom of the 7th. Game two was suspended. Andy Santana pitched the final five innings to earn the win, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks while striking out six. In the final inning, hitter of the game Victor Chavez homered to tie it at 6-6 while Aladin Reyes singled, stole second, took third on an errant pickoff throw, and scored on a wild pitch.
